Replaced my Nest

I found out about this thermostat after I had purchased a Nest 3rd Gen and figured I would give it a shot as it was much cheaper than the Nest. I wound up keeping it and returning the Nest. It has all the features that I liked about the Nest plus more. I especially like the Geo fencing feature that will automatically adjust the temperature settings when I leave the my apartment and again when it "sees" I'm returning. It's a fantastic thermostat given the price and features. After setting up the profiles, scheduling, and Geo fencing feature (or Auto Switch) I never have to touch the physical unit or pull up the app. So far it has been working flawlessly

Misleading Specs (NEEDS POWER SOURCE FROM WIRE)
on February 27, 2021
Posted by: Parker
I live in an apartment and do not have access to my HVAC, but I can change out the thermostat. So I researched this product to see if I could use it without the C/common wire. It says right in the specs online "No C-wire needed". Cool, I can use it then? Nope. It has an adapter that can work to give off power but it requires you to rewire your HVAC, which I do not have access to. I even did the compatibility checker and it just told me it would work, but didn't mention the need for this adapter or that I would need to install it to make it work. So overall I am very disappointed by the information given about this product that is very misleading. I bet it is a fantastic device that I would love, but I guess I will have to send it back or sell it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there! If you have a heat only system and no C-wire you should have Rc, G, and W1 wiring instead. We would recommend taking a look at this article for further information regarding this:

I am not an expert installer, but am a fairly good DYI around the house. Install was easy, but the problem is how the product and app work. I have spent two days and many hours researching and think I feel confident. Should not have taken this long.

Cheap, ineffective, and frustrating.

The Wyze thermostat doesn't work. It won't heat my house half the time. My 14-year-old thermostat works flawlessly, and it has no smart capabilities. The Wyze thermostat doesn't stick to the schedule you set for it about half the time. It's not 100% compatible with Google Home - you can't even get a temperature read when the thermostat is set to "Auto" mode. The required 5-degree temperature difference in Auto mode is unnecessary and leads to a largely useless system during the times of year when you need both heating and cooling available. This product feels like it's in an alpha stage. I would highly recommend against installing this thermostat. I'll be returning it once I can get another cheap, old thermostat to install.

I was so disappointed that are two-wire thermostat wasn’t comparable. I truly understand. Please let me know if you will be designing a thermostat that has its own battery.

garbage by all means. who has ever heard of a thermostat that you can’t use right out of the box installed one in dr office she purchased it the only thing that comes up on the screen is the name of the thermostat. no wiring diagram from the manufacture so if you don’t power rd the thermostat won’t come on. when will thipeses camera manufactures/ software companies learn that as heating contractors we have always powered thermostats from rh. dr was busy so when she went to set it up it didn’t connect. kept buffering round and round for an hour. never in my life have i ever installed a thermostat that does not at least allow you to operate it in heat or cooling even when it is not set up. stay clear away from this one.
