Great doll and beautiful dress

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall we liked this doll. My girls were excited to open the package and play with her. As for detail I thought the face could have been painted in a better likeness. The doll face was almost cross eyed. My daughters still liked playing with her and mentioned her pretty dress and shoes a lot. Overall a great doll.

New Doll Alert!

I immediately added her to my doll collection; because, Laverne Cox is a trans-woman activist in Hollywood. She had became the first African-Am face of the trans-woman movement and is continued with this doll being the first trans-doll of its kind. This doll is "post-op". The first thing you notice about the doll in comparison with a normal made-to-move Barbie body is that the torso and thighs are elongated, with athletically toned arms and legs. The doll comes wearing a three-piece outfit (corset, tulle dress, and full body suit with attached heels. As mentioned earlier, the body is not a full made-to-move, the upper arms and upper thighs does not rotate. This doll body can make an amazing looking WNBA basketball player!

More Beautiful in Person

the doll herself is great and has wonderful display possibilities. I feel that the plastic was different han other dolls, maybe my imagination but I really liked the texture of the plastic and the skin tone was great. I like the doll so much that I need to get my hands on another to use for restyling. The articulation was just enough. I was not wild about the outfit in photos, but in person I love it. I especially like that it is made in pieces so I can mix and match with other things. The face sculpt and the body size are great. I would like to see more dolls with this body type and If I had a choice, I would have wanted a few more outfit pieces. perhaps a shrug and a solid skirt liner to have more display options.

Great Doll for Collectors: too fancy for kids

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Laverne Cox tribute barbie doll arrived while we were on vacation. My daughter was so excited to open it when we got home. The packaging itself was beautiful, although slightly difficult to open. The dress details were so gorgeous! And the accessories that came with it were very sparkly and glamorous. My 8 year old daughter loves it! This is a very fun and pretty doll!
