Don’t buy!

Echoing what others have said. Out of the 1 year warranty period and had what must have been a small fire in the back corner from arching. Afraid to use the microwave again. Super disappointed because this microwave was expensive and we expected a superior product. Relieved we didn’t have a kitchen fire!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fire danger! Do not buy!

We are having the same problem so many others have been reporting. Back left wheel sparking in the microwave. There is a black mark from it burning the back side of the microwave. This is a definite fire hazard. Surprised there’s not a lawsuit yet. We’ve had it 15 months so past warranty of course. This is very frustrating.

Fire hazard?

We noticed this burnt spot inside the microwave. Not sure what to do now since it's been more than 1 year since we installed it (warranty is only 1 year). What are our options to address the issue, does it pose fire hazard??

Another identical Arcing Issue (To other reviews)

As many others have said, there is a defective part on the roller wheel/ casting/coating and has caused a black burn mark in the back of the microwave. We are not able to use it because of how bad the arcing is. We use the microwave correctly, never putting metal or foil in it, ever, haven't used "recycled paper towels with small metal pieces" or plates with a metallic trim or glaze. This is a defective part as almost 200 other people have stated. The part doesn't look like we can buy and replace it separately. I generally like GE and Cafe appliances but this microwave, the defect, the safety concerns and the lack of response or coverage for said Cafe design or manufacturing will have me switch brands. The solution is not a new microwave when it seems like something that could have been made better or designed better for higher end appliances from GE.

Looks Can Be Deceiving

I have had this microwave over a year and it has already needed service twice and a whole new control unit. It gives off an awful smell while in use now as well. Would NOT recommend the whole Cafe line .

Typically the cause of odors can be caused from previous foods that have been heated inside. We recommend cleaning the inside cavity with baking soda or a non-abrasive detergent, and letting it dry.
