Not what the reputation is

The dryer heating element went bad within a year and a half from install. The repair guy stated that since convoys and supply chain issues, speedqueen changed to a poorer quality element which is needing replacement way more than the prior one. The washer we bought at the same time has needed replacement of the lid latch that also signals it’s closed and won’t allow operation when broken. This has happened twice now. We don’t slam the lid down and it just seems to have broken on its own! I wonder if speed queen knows that their products sell based on reptutstion not looks or features. People want a reliable product and when purchasing something more commercial in quality, they expect it! Word of mouth spreads very quickly! What a shame. I thought we finally found a brand that held true to standard of quality of yesteryear.

It broke but speed queen came through

Cleans amazing, quiet , not flashy, a true work horse, BUT less than two years in it stopped drying. Called speed queen I actually talk to someone they said go through the people that purchased it from they got me set up with a repair place came out the next week diagnosed it and in another week had the part and the service guy fixed it the first time. AND it was under warranty! I’m a bit disappointed in the reliability but speed queen stood behind their equipment so I’m pretty happy about that.

Great Dryer, Until the Heating Element Went Out

I have a Speed Queen washer and love it, so when our 35-year-old Maytag dryer died I went with the Speed Queen. It was great until exactly two years to the day, when the heating element went out. The appliance store has been saying for months that they can't get the replacement parts. So now I have a useless two-year-old dryer and am spending precious time and money at the laundromat until the part comes in. I feel this is something consumers need to be aware of when purchasing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
