Incredible Dryer

1. big capacity loads 2. well-designed lint filer 3. easy to use control panel 4. quiet 5. I LOVE the steam refresh setting - I have eliminated the need to iron My only wish is that the end cycle notify button was louder; there may be a volume setting I haven't found yet though since this machine has so many bells and whistles, but if not, it isn't audible unless you are standing right beside the machine in the laundry room. A reason I bought Speed Queen in addition to my mom, cousin and 2 sisters recommendation, is that it is made in the USA. You should really advertise that, it is getting to be very important to people.

Great Dryer to match an Awesome Washer!

Very durable and well built dryer. Many options such a pet hair, steam, etc. that take this an additional step above others. Our only 2 semi-cons. First, the end of cycle buzzer is not that loud and we can't seem to find a way of increasing the volume. Second, there's an area under the lint trap where small items such a sock will get trapped. If you don't check it with your hands (difficult to see), the sock will turn up another time. Overall, it's a great dryer.

I bought speed queen again after owning other brands that had continued repairs. After questioning several repairman and they all told me speed queen was the least worked on and most reliable I decided to buy it. Also most laundromats have speed queen taking all that abuse and and still running. Very happy with my purchase

I purchased this on the recommendation of my repair person to replace a 005 Fisher and Paykel. Tried to keep the old dryer going as long as possible since it was the only actual top-loading dryer ever & is no longer being made. I have been surprised that the transition to a front-loader has been easier than expected.
Pro’s: large capacity, love the light inside, pet hair cycles are a blessing!, the lint trap is right in front, easy to clean and catches a lot—keeps vent cleaner, cycles are easy to use.
Con’s: needs a longer extended tumble—at least 3-4 hours, noisier than previous dryer-sounds “tinny”, have to be careful not to get wet laundry on the basement floor when transferring from washer to dryer.

The dryer does not fully dry the clothes. I have to turn the dryer back on about two more times before I am satisfied with the dryness of the clothes.
The manual / time dry setting is the only setting that dries the clothes to my satisfaction, so I use that setting for just about everything now. I typically set the timer to 30 minute increments depending on the items being dried. Towels get 60 minutes. The heavy duty setting lets you pick the temperature and the dryness levels. I have them on the highest levels. I think it still tries to sense the dryness of the clothes, but it is not working.
After my forth time using the dryer it stopped heating. I had to open a service call with the dealer to come fix it. The thermal fuse had blown because of the exhaust hose. Speed Queen recommends using a rigid or flexible metal exhaust hose. The guys who installed mine used the flexible foil hose. In my opinion, the flexible foil hose should suffice. On one hand, I don’t understand why a high-end model dryer such as this has to be so delicate when it come to the exhaust. On the other hand, a machine this sophisticated probably needs to have a higher end exhaust duct and not something that is "run of the mill". I am still using the flexible foil right now but if the fuse blows again, I will change to the flex metal. The hose has to be away from the wall without being crimped. This causes my dryer to sit out so far from the wall that I can’t even close the door to the washroom.
Sometimes, the dryer leaves lent attached to my clothes even when the lent catcher is empty. The mesh screen in the lent catcher should be made a little more sturdy. When cleaning out the catcher it feels like you can almost punch a hole in it if you are not careful. Small clothing items like socks can also hide or get trapped underneath the lent catcher. I would recommend building the lent catcher down into the dryer and then be able to lift the catcher out of the dryer to empty it.
Good features - There are a lot of drying cycles to choose from although I am not sure if there is a real difference in some of them. The dryer also runs quiet. I have not tried the steam cycle settings, but I like the concept of it.

The dryer has a lot of options to get different kinds of clothing dry. It seems to dry in the time allotted for each type of clothing, sheets, and towels.
