I like how quiet the washer is. The only thing is it doesn't wring out the clothes all the way/ even when it is on MAX

Supposed to be the best?

One keeps hearing that speed queen is the best of the best. I got the TR7 series and imagine my surprise when after doing a few loads of laundry I noticed that the shirts still had the deodorant residue on them. This never happened with my whirlpool washers. This was using both the heavy duty cycles and the normal eco-cycles.
The clothes also don’t seem as dry so I have to run them through another spin cycle. I wish I would’ve bought another whirlpool.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We bought the Speed Queen TR7003WN after doing a lot of research. It had to replace an older washer made by the Raytheon Corporation in the late 1990's when they owned an appliance brand, that had lasted us 20 years never needing service. This Speed Queen has a lot of the same build features, but updated with a new control system and water-saving technologies. We paid a lot more (almost twice as much) for the Speed Queen than we would have for another well-known make, but it will be worth it if we get similar service from it as we got from the old machine. We've only had it now for a few weeks, but here are some initial observations:
- extremely quiet in all wash phases
- like our old machine, very low vibration when spinning
- touch screen controls take some getting used to, but overall easy to use, and not gimmicky as we saw with some competitors machines
- faster wash times than the old machine
- lid lock not as bothersome as we thought it was going to be
- Wife is happy with the way the clothes come clean, even just using the water and electricity-saving "Normal Eco" wash routine mode.

Our laundry room is on the main floor of the house right next to the kitchen (where we spend the bulk of our time), and we don't even notice it running. My wife no longer closes the laundry room door, unless the dryer is in operation. Main noises we hear are when the water is filling, but our electric convection oven in the kitchen is actually louder (constant fan noise when on)!
So far we are pleased with this purchase choice. We'll see about the water savings after a couple months of use, but I do expect it will be positive. Counting on the Speed Queen reputation to prove we made the right choice.

Controls need tweeking!

I think the machine does a good job of washing the clothes, but I am not satisfied with the way the options are set up. You can't get warm water for the rinse and spin cycle. The permanent press's spin cycle is too strong and leaves the clothes too wrinkled. I have to use the delicate cycle to get the permanent press clothes to dry without wrinkles. Why didn't they design it so that you could choose everything you want for each cycle? My Maytag front loading machine let me choose what I wanted for everything: the water temperature, water level, and spin speed. I wish this machine did the same thing. I miss my Maytag!!

I love my washer and dryer except sometimes when I use the fabric softener dispenser I have to run another cycle of rinse and spin because it doesn’t dissolve everytime

Great washer, have had speed queens before. Only issue is when you use fabric softener you need to add extra rinse or it sometimes leaves residue in machine and on clothes.
I would recommend this to a friend!
