Nice Washer

This is a really nice washing machine. Appears to be really solid and well made. Quiet.
Ours was delivered with a damaged front panel and we are patiently waiting for Speed Queen to send new panel to Max's in Traverse City Mi. I would have given a 5 star but this came from the factory damaged as the box it was delivered in was not damaged.

Best washer ever!

This is the best washer we’ve ever used. User friendly and is built like a tank. Our clothes and sheets are as clean as ever.

It has a strange smell.

I smell a slight burning oder at times. I hope it works out. This was very expensive.

One flaw but also one great ability

The speed of the cycles should be easier to find - my rugs need a slow spin for instance. Eco normal is not really "normal" cuz it uses less hot water. Figuring out the specs of each cycle is frustrating. BUT the soak option is FANTASTIC... my chef clothes need to stay white and I love being able to soak them for hours - a whole 24 if I want. This feature is the reason I love the machine.

I have owned my washer for less than one month. I have noticed bleach spots on several articles of clothing. I have followed instructions, cut back on the amount of bleach I was using, etc. However, in order to keep from "bleaching" my clothes I have had to run a rinse/spin cycle after using bleach to avoid this problem.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Door lock mechanism failure on arrival

I've exclusively had Speed Queen products for the past 7 years. I swear by them. Moved to a new home and bought this washer. I don't know why the door lock mechanism was added. It wasn't on my previous model and is just a nuisance. This model arrived and the lock wouldn't engage thus a load wouldn't start. Had to have the lock replaced before ever starting a load. For the hefty price tag of the speed queen I expect it to be a work horse. This new model has already underwhelmed without a single use.

Unhappy with purchase

Unfortunately, we are very unhappy with this machine. It simply isn't getting our clothes clean. I buy all white towels, dish towels washcloths socks etc purposely so I can bleach them and have clean, white items. So far, after owing this machine for 3 weeks, the whites are coming out unclean, no matter what cycle I've tried. Also, a shirt with a coffee spill was washed 3 times, after being spot treated twice, and there is still a stain on it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Should have bought these years ago, Best Ever!!

Somewhere quality, endurance, dependability, and value in American appliances disappeared over the last 40+ years. After getting flim-flammed with other “Top Brands” and the “Best of the Best”, we finally found Speed Queen. It only took 40+ years!!!
The final straw was getting only a year & nine months out of the new other brand’s top model and hearing the repairman tell us the gears are plastic, it’s made in Mexico with Chinese parts…. And his appliance company services all makes & models. He recommended, as did a family member, to get Speed Queen. American made, old school company. We are thrilled. Finally. I only wish Speed Queen also made dishwashers, refrigerators, and freezers……
