Love that it only takes 30-40 minutes max per wash. Everything comes out very clean. The options for washes is excellent as well

Best Washer Ever

This washer delivers. Sturdy, quiet, quick and thorough. Importantly, the cycles are much shorter, yet the clothes visibly cleaner than the other brand washer it replaced. Helps make doing laundry much more efficient.

Nice looking, well built, but it does not wash as well as my old Maytag maxima front-loader. The Speed Queen TR7 is very over-rated. It can leave lint on dark clothing ( had to wash twice with extra rinse), and it does not remove normal kitchen towel grease stains, or clothing stains for that matter. The tub circulation is not strong enough to clean the clothes properly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Lid Problem

Disappointed

Washer and dryer set was installed about a month ago. I have been noticing that our clothes aren’t getting clean, no matter what setting I use. As for the dryer, one of the felt glides broke. The dryer started knocking. Have yet to get the new set installed to see if this will cure the knocking. For a new set, this shouldn’t be happening for the money I spent. I will be purchasing a different brand soon. Not happy one bit!

Heartbroken and disappointed..

I wanted to be a proud owner of the Speed Queen washer and dryer but there are too many shortcomings.
I feel like my clothes are not clean. This is especially noticeable in whites, like socks, t-shirts, and underwear. I think the clothes would be cleaner if you had the corkscrew or spiral agitator.
Sometimes, but not all the time, the spin cycle does not ring out all of the water. It may depend on the material. I am still researching this one.
The tub should be a little larger than what it is, especially for the higher end model washer.
You can’t change the water temperature or the water level once it starts the wash mode.
There is no need for the lid to lock while the tub is filling up with water. It’s okay to lock when the washer is in spin mode but having to pause the washer then restart it just to add another item is totally unnecessary. Lifting the lid while it is locked sometimes causes the washer to error. “Er” or “Ed” appears on the display and the only way I know to fix this is to unplug the washer from the wall for few seconds and plug it back in. I’m not sure why the water has to stop filling the tub when you lift the lid either. I read where there are government regulations put in place for some of the safety features. If that is truly the case, then I will just have to live with it.
There are some good features on the washer.
The amount of water levels: small, medium, large and auto fill. The tub fills all the way up with water when you select large.
The number of wash cycles - although I am not sure if there is a real difference in all of them.
The hot water is all the way hot.
The washer runs quiet, in fact a little too quiet.

I would like to offer a solution to Speed Queen. If you look at the reviews, you will see that people are always talking about how well their old washers worked. Ultimately, people just want their clothes to be CLEAN.
Here is what an ideal “top of the line” Speed Queen washer should look like:
1. You basically need three water temperatures: Cold, warm, or hot (cool and lukewarm on some brands is silly)
2. You need at least three water levels: Small, medium, large (auto fill as an added bonus but is not necessary for me)
3. You need about three or four wash cycles: Delicate or gentle, normal, heavy duty (maybe another setting somewhere in between but three settings would be fine)
4. You need the agitator with the corkscrew or spiral design. I love the way it snatches the clothes and rotates them throughout the tub. You probably need a transmission for this.
5. The tub should be larger than what it currently is. Somewhere between 4.5 and 5-cu would be nice.
6. The spin cycle needs to be better at removing the water from the clothes.
7. Remove the lid lock feature when the tub is filling. If you want to lock it during the spin cycle, then that is fine. The water should not stop flowing either just because the lid is open.
8. On the back of the washer, the hook ups for the cold and hot water should be recessed into the washer so that the washer can sit closer to the wall. It sticks out too far and can be a real issue for people with limited space in their washrooms.

The TC5 model (TC5003WN) comes close but with a few modifications like what I have just listed would make a great washing machine.
Having said all of this I am stuck with a washer and dryer that is not doing the job. The dealer that I purchased it from will not allow me to return it and it has not been four weeks since I purchased the washer and dryer set.
There is no question about the quality of the product, but I can’t go 25 years with a washer that does not do the job. There are a few washers out there that may suit my needs better, even if they don’t last as long as the Speed Queens.
