Buy once cry once doesn't mean anything anymore

Purchased in March 2024, broke down April 2025. Despite the fact that the washer doesn't clean well, and I'm anticipating the day the dryer stops working, the saying buy once cry once is a thing of the past. They don't make things to last like they used to. It will be 2 weeks Monday since I have not had a washer and the sad thing is my old 17 year Maytag that I gave away is still going. I'm happy to have a warranty but I didnt think I would need to use it this soon. Don't waste your money on the expensive commercial speed queen products, they aren't worth it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've had the TR7 for a couple months now, and have done a variety of load types with it. I was a little torn between it and the TC5, as several reviews seemed to suggest the TR7 is an ineffective cleaner, so I was a little hesitant but I didn't want a loud washer since it's on the main level of my house.
Let me just say that this washer absolutely cleans clothes effectively. If you've got clothes that are caked in mud, grease, grass stains, etc., remember to read the manual and use the handy soak feature (up to 24 hrs!), pretreat stains, use warmer water, etc. as needed.
I like that there are several different wash modes and many ways to customize how a load is washed. This is one area where the TR7 outshines the TC5. If you want a machine where it fills nearly the entire tub with water like a bathtub for each wash, and you don't mind the (much louder) noise and you won't miss the extra features, the TC5 will be great. For me, I want to have more control over the wash and be able to soak/delay the wash as needed.
Finally, I don't understand why the lid lock (TR7) or lack thereof (TC5) is a sticking or selling point. The lid only locks a few minutes after starting the load, so all you have to do is press Start again if you open the lid to add something. I can't think of a single time, on any washer I've owned, where I've started a load of laundry and needed to open the lid 15 minutes into the cycle. If that's something you'd need to do, you can simply press Pause and be patient (this must be the real sticking point, a lack of patience) for a few seconds until the lid unlocks.
The last thing I'll mention is that the build quality is excellent. I don't think it's budged a millimeter since installing it, it weighs significantly more than my old washer and it's built like a tank. For those who are lamenting electronic controls, remember that there is not a single washer that Speed Queen makes that doesn't have an electronic board behind the control panel (yes, even the TC5 is electronically controlled). The board on the TR7 is rated for 1 million button presses which should take me well into the next lifetime.

Without a doubt, this is the most efficient and reliable washing machine that we have ever owned in our 56 years of having a clothes washing device. It is easy to operate and gets the clothes cleaner while still providing the exact time the load will be finished. It has saved money on the amount of water that each load would use. We are more than pleased. I just wish i had known about this earlier in our married life. WOW! what a time saver it would have been.
Love the size of the tub, love the different settings I can use, cleans the clothes wonderfully, saves detergent(by changing settings to what you need), clean selection panel, easy to learn. My original Maytag before it became a mix of companies was the best set I ever had. This has now taken over the #1 spot. I have had Whirlpool, GE, Maytag original and Maytag mix blend. Someone told me I should try Speed Queen as she listened to me complaining about my washer and dryer. The last pair lasted (Maytag blend) 8 years, for 2 people who have normal clothes not heavy work clothes. That was ridiculous. And yay, Made in America
After a diligent search for a quality washer and dryer we finally decided on purchasing a Speed Queen and this is our first Speed Queen product and we couldn't be happier with our purchase! The machines are intuitive and easy to use, the dryer is phenomenal with no more wet cloths at the end of a drying cycle. One of the reasons we went with Speed Queen is because the washer has an agitator which works great!
I have had many different washing/dryer machines over the years and ALL came with there repair issues! I wanted a machine that did what it was supposed to do, did it WELL and was dependable(without repairs issues)! So i surveyed a lot of repair services and ALL said that Speed Queen was the most dependable(least problems/repairs)! I purchased my first set and am extremely pleased with their performance/result in cleaning and drying our clothes!
I was limited for space. Only "Real" machine that would fit. I didn't to settle for a make-shift machine. It does big loads efficiently, quietly and takes care of my clothes.
