We definitely needed a new washer as the one we'd had for about 16 years stopped spinning. Since we needed to replace the washer, made sense to get a new dryer as well. Were looking at mixing manufacturers on the washer and dryer; went to 3 different stores selling appliances but didn't want to buy the first ones we looked at. Went to East Coast Appliance and asked the salesman what he recommended and he showed us the Speed Queen laundry pair. We'd never even thought of Speed Queen and had forgotten that they're known for the laundromats. I don't frequent laundromats as we've always had a washer and dryer.
Speed Queen is significantly more expensive but we read a lot of product reviews and customer reviews. We decided by investing that much on a laundry pair, they'd last us the rest of our lives.

So far so good, we do between 5 and 6 tubs a week and everything is working great. Love the long Warranty
