I had a similar High Sierra rolling duffle I've used heavily for over 11 years (lots of international travel) with zero issues until the last trip. And one of the wheels started to break, but I was able to get home with it still working. Couldn't replace the wheel since it was rivetted on. Anyway, it was a bit heavier than the new Fairlead model particularly in the material, so we'll see if this duffle lasts as long. Perhaps the material is higher tech and can achieve the same strength being thinner and lighter weight. I thought it was worth a try.
In addition to being tough, one of the things I loved about the former duffle, and now this one is the design. It is huge and you can get a lot of clothing and other travel related things in it. Plus, several pockets for better organizing. Plus, the price can't be beat for what you're getting. If it holds up anything close to the last one, I'll be very happy indeed.

The design is unique and innovative. The zippered bottom half is perfect for folded clothing items, while the upper half is mostly duffel style for objects with an additional zippered pocket. This makes it roomy but also easy to organize and access the various types of items you've packed. I found a 50# pack easy to handle. The wheels look like tough roller blade style. The handle is sturdy and easily collapses. I've had an older backpack strap version of a smaller size that has performed perfectly for 15 years. Tough zippers, durable inner material. Great access to compartments. Only wish there were handles on the sides. There is the main handle on top and handles at the ends, but sometimes grabbing the bag to turn it or open it I miss a side handle. The length is technically 2 inches longer than United's max size, but then it is not as wide or deep. I've seen many other bags on flights that are even bigger.

I like the bag... I don't love it... the handle is slim and doesn't stay up well, the velcro handles don't stay together, the bag pulls very heavy because the wheels are so tiny. 45lbs of weight in this bag feels more like 75lbs. I had to switch with my husband and have him pull this bag while I pulled his... yet both weighted the same and were similar size.
The bag is narrow - making a difficult to keep standings unless you really think about how you pack.
The zippers have been find on first trip, but overall they feel cheap and are on the thinner side than my old bag - that is the same large size.
Its is however super spacious!
It really just needs better/bigger wheels so 50lbs doesn't feel like 75 and a better handle. 4 wheels would also be a major came changer.

All and all a good bag for the price. This is my 3rd Drop bottom duffel from High Sierra. I travel 2-3 times a month with my job and these hold up pretty well for airline travel. Ive got around 18 months out of each bag. This one seems like they upgraded some of weak points of the previous versions.

I bought this bag 2 yrs ago, if that, and it is falling apart. The handles have holes ripped in them, the bottom compartment zipper is falling off and I had to gorilla glue it to the seams so it wouldn't open on a trip to Alaska. I now cannot open up the bottom compartment fully. I had a roller duffle for 15 yrs with zero issues from this company and the new material is horrible, cheap and will not last long. There is no way to get a replacement and they charge you to ship it to get it looked at. I am now on the hunt for a better duffle and will NOT buy High Sierra again. I have bragged about this company for years, but no longer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
