Tolerable to start

I used (plain) VP years ago, this time I purchased the chocolate flavor, noticed a slight body smell shortly after. Directions advise to mix with hot water, some used coffee, I was told heat minimizes the benefits though, is this true? I made hot chocolate and added it in coffee, I love both ways. New container is difficult to open, not a fan.

Like most recent reviews, love the product but hate the new paper packaging. Very difficult to open. I much prefer the old plastic containers, easy to open and reuseable!

3 tablespoons is the serving size. That’s a LOT of powder. It’s difficult to choke down in any suggested method. Do not recommend

Hi there! Thank you for your feedback! The recommended serving size of 3 tablespoons is the maximum daily amount that can be safely consumed. You are welcome to adjust this amount based on your preference, taking anywhere between 1.5 to 3 tablespoons per day, or you can space out the tablespoons throughout the day.

Product is fine; Packaging is horrific

I love the product. The packaging is impossible. Thankfully I saved my old "plastic" container so that once I have manhandled the new packaging open, I can pour it into my old container. If not, I would find another product. Y'all should call Quaker Oats... they have been doing cardboard for ages with a very easy, consumer friendly (even a child can do it) opening system.

How to access the product—instructions needed

I just bought the product. I thought the packaging was a good idea until I tried to open it. I applaud your sustainability effort. Assuming you all have tested this package, and knowing that customers are struggling—put a video on the site to demonstrate its ease of use. “Pull here” is clearly not enough. Don’t just read the response and defend your choice—help us.

Our new paperboard canister is a new initiative that will help us further reduce our plastic production; this canister will help us eliminate roughly 1800 metric tons of plastic from the waste stream annually! As this is our first iteration of our paperboard canister, your feedback is greatly appreciated and will be forwarded to our product design teams for direct considerations in improvements as we move forward with this material!
Our new pull-tab lid lifts for daily scooping and closes tightly when you’re done for continued freshness. Simply pinch & pull to break outer seal, no twisting required. Here is a video that may help explain that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IEZ5hg4Kgw.
We do not recommend using anything sharp like a knife or scissors to open your packaging. If you would like to use a tool to aid in breaking the perforations, we recommend that you gently use the back of a spoon or a butter knife to pre-break the perforations on the lid. If you can pre-break the some of the perforated line, this should allow you to lift the lid with more ease.

Good product but new packaging is terrible.

While I applaud the effort to make the packaging more eco-friendly, they need to do a better job with the instructions on how to detach the new paper lid. They have an arrow indicating where to lift but it’s confusing because you think it’s where the lid should be separated from the body of the canister - it’s not. So, if you interpret their arrow that way, you end up cutting the very top lap which is not their intention. IMO, the upward-pointing arrow should go below the dotted line with instructions to the effect of “detach here” to minimize confusion.
The 2nd issue w/this paper flap top vs their previous plastic screw on cap is that you can’t lift the canister by grabbing it from the top. If you did, the paper lid pulls up and away from the canister and if the canister is full - i.e. when you first buy it - the contents will spill all over your countertop and floor like it did with me just now. Very frustrating. Pls work on this. I would attached pictures showing my recommendations but their system is currently not letting me (I’ll keep trying) but hopefully you can visualize what I mean.

Bad Packaging and LESS Product

As a long-time Vital Proteins customer, I received my latest shipment and was surprised to see their new "non-plastic" packaging, which looks like a canister of oatmeal. As much as I dislike this new packaging, which won't protect the product's shelf life, I was really SHOCKED when I opened the container. The container is less than half full of product. The collagen powder is not quite 3 inches, and the container is 6 1/2 inches. It is a blatant misrepresentation, and your customers deserve better, especially for the price point they pay for this product. I will not be purchasing Vital Proteins again—shame on whoever the decision-maker was at Vital Proteins who assumed the customers would not notice, or care. In the photos, you will see the darkened area of the brand-new container where the actual product is reflected at almost 3 inches.
