I love the Tuft & Needle basic mattress. It is a pretty firm mattress, but that works for me. When you add the mattress topper, it's perfect.

The mattress is very comfortable and seems to be well made. I love that there was no odor and set up was easy. My only complaint is that the edges are very soft and not stable like a traditional spring mattress.

I thought it would have been better due to the hype. I really like how soft the bed feels for being the entry level model however, it does make me feel a bit overheated at night and doesn't have that same level of comfort throughout the mattress. Overpromised but a great value at the price.

The mattress is comfortable and sturdy, but is overly-firm. Because of this, I find myself waking up multiple times a night to adjust positions and waking up with back pain in the morning. The mattress is advertised as "ideal for sleepers of any size or weight" but I'm petite and have had trouble over the past month adjusting to this mattress. I've had firm mattresses before, but this one is definitely stiffer than expected.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We love the mattress! I saw the highly rated review in Consumer Reports a couple years ago, and kept it in mind. Then a friend mentioned she had a Tuft & Needle mattress and loved it, and that's when we decided to order one for ourselves. At first I thought it would not be firm enough, but after a night or two it was clearly firm enough. We're very happy with it.

Firm and springy foam provides pros and cons

The foam mattress has a nice springiness to it, but it is very firm. My partner (back sleeper) LOVED it, but I (side sleeper) was getting sore hips and shoulders. I contacted T&N and received amazing support and was told to try a topper. Since putting the topper on it, it is now soft enough for me and still has a very springy-supportive feel. Since it is more "springy" and doesn't sink like memory foam, you unfortunately can feel your partner (or pets) move a lot. I wish it absorbed movement more!
