[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It failed one week before the warranty expired. Fortunately Philips replaced it immediately. However, the new brush does not pair with the app. But as fair as the product goes, it’s a great brush. My teeth have never been cleaner.

Amazing cleaning job - expensive but worthy

Just upgraded from a 6100 that I've had for many years that finally died. I managed to fix it myself (thanks YouTube) before the 9900 arrived but figured I'd give it a shot anyhow. The 9900 is a huge, huge upgrade. The app is nice and all (especially for changing modes on the brush), but really this toothbrush just does an incredible cleaning job. It's expensive, but so far a worthwhile investment. It does a much deeper clean than any other Sonicare I've had.

Useful While It Lasted...

This was my first "adult money purchase" a few years ago and I was thrilled about it. However, not longer after receiving it the gold band where the toothbrush head connects with the the base fell off. Three years later, since I had a hard time keeping the water from collecting there after brushing, the rubber gasket where the toothbrush head is attached started growing mold. I tried to stop this from happening with different tactics to dry and disinfect after use, but it did not work. The mold moved downward into the base of the toothbrush and I ended up cutting the rubber gasket in desperation. I realize some may lecture me about doing this because it rendered the toothbrush unusable a few weeks later but I chose malfunctioning toothbrushes over mold near my mouth. I am downgrading to a different sonicare and hoping that if it happens again I don't have to replace it soon.

Philips Sonicare Buyer's Beware

It's time to say goodbye to Philips Sonicare. After owning three of their toothbrushes, I'm convinced the brand has major quality control issues. Each one lasted only a year and a half to two years before breaking down completely.
My experience isn't unique, either. A quick search on Reddit shows countless others facing the same problem, with many users reporting a similar two-year lifespan for their devices.
I'm finally switching to the Oral-B iO series and would advise anyone considering a new electric toothbrush to avoid Philips Sonicare.

Deeply Flawed Product That Doesn't Last
on October 23, 2025

I have been using Sonicare toothbrushes for roughly 15 years and the once high quality is at an all-time low. I have had this toothbrush replaced 5+ times because the metal shaft that holds the head in place inevitably shakes itself loose. Sometimes it lasts a year, sometimes it lasts a few weeks, but it will happen and it makes the toothbrush unusable.
It's unacceptable for a top of the line model, let alone any model within the Sonicare product line, to not last more than a few weeks or months.
I would not recommend purchasing this product.

not as good as expected

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I find it difficult to brush and get the system to recognize the correct brushing time. Therefore it asks me to "rebrush" areas that don't require. I find myself changing hand and positioning my body in awkward position just to get the system to recognize that I am brushing. Consequently I have given up and brush without using the app. Should have kept to the non-wifi appliance.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Randomly switches intensity settings, mostly mid-brushing session. App doesn’t detect brush head position properly. Difficult to fit in travel case. Battery runs down quickly.

Hi Sharon,

Thank you for writing your review, your opinion is highly valued. We're sorry to hear that your toothbrush is changing settings mid-use, and your app is not detecting your brush head. Allow us to share some tips that may help you connect to the app:
1. Go to your phone settings
2. Open Bluetooth
3. Click on (i) and select 'Forget This Device' for Philips Sonicare
4. Place the toothbrush on its original charger
5. Initiate a toothbrush handle reset
6. Press/release the power button 10 times within 5 seconds while the toothbrush is on the charger
7. All the lights on the toothbrush will turn on in a rapid sequence if the reset is successful
8. Open the Sonicare app, and accept the pairing request when prompted

Furthermore, we recommend cleaning your toothbrush after every use for optimal functionality. This will ensure that no toothpaste residue builds up, causing malfunction.

If this doesn't improve your experience, please reach out to us on Social Media. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/Philips ) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/philipscare). Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further.

Hope to speak to you soon!
