Good model...but only if it were a time machine!

First let me say I really enjoyed the actual build on this one -- some really interesting techniques utilized to achieve some beautiful angles/shaping; also, the color scheme looks spectacular -- this is a very eye-catching model. My only criticism are with the dimension, as the front / "nose" of the Landspeeder appear really elongated. In full disclosure, I admittedly am comparing this to the original Kenner "Landspeeder", which - in full disclosure - happened to be the first Star Wars toy I owned (and that seemed to be more "screen realistic" in size than this model); moreover, given I was seven years old when "A New Hope" was released, the Landspeeder holds a special significance for me, especially an AFOL. All that said, I might be overly critical in my review of this model, as no LEGO model - no matter how perfect - is ever going to completely capture that wonderful feeling of experiencing Star Wars as a child. All in all, this * is * a good model...if only it were a time machine that could take me back to 1977! :-)

I think the landspeeder is overused, but ignoring that, this set just wasn't a terribly good build. I hate UCS sets that rely on stickers, because they don't last, and this set was chalk full of them. Next, the grey tubes that form the sides of the speeder arent really secured to the front, and they keep popping the bow grey pieces off. Just a really poor design and execution on an already pretty boring set. This feels like a LEGO money grab more than a worthwhile UCS delivery..

Missing Pieces

I would love to be able to give this a good review, but my build has come to a screeching halt on the fourth bag. It was missing 4 pieces. Currently there's a 5-6 week wait for individual bricks. Hopefully when I receive the new bricks that I won't find additional bricks missing later in the build.

Missing pieces

This set is missing a decent amount of pieces making it impossible to continue the build. The piece ID is 6286506 from bag 4 and is missing 4 pieces. It's unacceptable for how much this set costs and the amount of time it takes to even build. You would think there would be more attention to detail at this price but I guess not. Really disappointed.

I don't usually write product reviews, however, I was extremely disappointed with the UCS Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder. I am a LEGO VIP member and I waited until the very beginning of the VIP Early Access to order this set. When it arrived, I couldn't even begin building it because there were missing pieces in the very first bag. I will definitely reconsider waiting until VIP Early Access to order a brand new set if there will be missing pieces (which I will then have to spend time reordering).

Beautiful set, too bad it’s not to scale

I have been collecting Star Wars UCS for nearly 15 years now, and my favorite part about *most* of the vehicles is they’re relatively to scale, meaning the ships are proportional to the size of the minifigs (AT-ST, Imperial Shuttle, X-Wing, Millenium Falcon, Slave 1, Vader’s Tie Fighter, etc). However, when it comes to Luke’s Landspeeder, it’s comically oversized, easily 2 maybe 3x as big as it should be. When you place Luke into the driver’s seat he looks like a newborn trying to pilot an 18-wheeler. The overall build quality is nice and the colors are beautiful. The scale just takes away the immersion for me.
