I’ve never done negative reviews on LEGO products because they almost always are enjoyable. Unfortunately this one is the outlier. As someone who has started collecting LEGO sets as far back as LEGO Spider-Man vs the Green Goblin (4852). I’ve never been disappointed with a set such as this one. His stability with his legs and arms is almost nonexistent. When you try putting either his gun or axe in his hand it’s even more so. I have yet to be able to convert him from when I first completed the build (little over 3 months now) from robot to truck or vice versa without pieces falling off. I even tried to rebuild him with better connecting pieces from the old EXOFORCE sets and it helped a touch more in the arms but the legs are still a mess. The voltron set had more stability I don’t get why they didn’t try to copy and paste some of the designs from that. I’m almost to the point of just returning it because it’s just more of an aggravation to pose than an enjoyment

Shoddy Build

As a person who remembers watching G1 Transformers, I was excited to buy this set.
The build is very fragile. Torso and arms fall off too easily. Lego you could of done better with the design. You can build Ninjago mechs that are solid. Why couldn't you done it to this set?

Looks amazing as robot, but sloppy mess as a truck

I have to say that 14-year-old me was excited to see the announcement for this, even 30+ years later. The build is pretty straight forward and doesn't take very long. I feel like the axe and the cube and jetpack are kind of filler, but as a robot, Prime looks amazing.
Unfortunately, the transformation is pretty terrible. The hands are flimsy, the torso rocks all over the place, and the "under carriage" around the hips will absolutely fall apart. When it is as a truck, everything fits in a sloppy way. It got worse when my smart 12-year-old tried to transform it. It just isn't meant to be played with. I figured it would be tight like the Voltron set, but it's not even close. Fairly disappointed.

Was very excited when I saw that this was going to be available but disappointed once I put it together. First off the color of the pages of the instruction booklet did not go well with the blue colored bricks. It hurt my eyes trying to figure out which blue bricks were needed. Once completed the robot was a flimsy mess. Pieces kept falling off in particular the rear tail lights that go on the feet. Once you “transform” it into the truck the pieces don’t align too well. Overall it us a fun nostalgia trip but not worth the cost.

If you enjoy your lego to fall apart...

I have purchased 100s of LEGO Sets, and this is by far the absolute worst set I have purchased. It needs to be engineered better to stay together and not fall apart when moving. Every joint falls apart easily, and other parts just fall off. Even when transforming pieces just randomly will pop off. I expected it to be better especially since the Voltron build was so incredible, and well thought out. It just doesn't compare. I can appreciate the idea, but the execution was garbage. It's not even in the same league. How did this even pass through quality control? I would have paid more to have a better product. This is such a let down.

Optimus Prime

My son and I really enjoyed this build, I really wish it would have had the trailer. It brought back all the great memories of the original cartoon. I also added pictures of my sons original Optimus Prime toy, and I also show the size compared to Lego Voltron.

I love it but missing pieces...

I really love this kit but it's missing at least one and maybe up to five pieces. I can cannibalize other sets for most pieces, but I need to wait 7-10 data to keep building this guy. It's disappointing but it's beyond my control...
