Difficult transformation

Looks nice, but be careful

Looks nice, but has a few serious structural design flaws. The head pops off if you look at it the wrong way and the waist has separated on me twice, leading to rebuilds that took an hour+ each. If you get it, I advise build it, take some pictures, put it on a shelf and never touch it again.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Falls Apart When Moved

I am satisfied with the end result of the set (looks wise), but transporting and transforming this set is an absolute nightmare. Anytime you try to move a part of the figure it ends up falling off or causing something else to break apart. Doesn't transform like it should, needs to be more robust.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Missing pieces

Overall this was a nice build and it's transforming ability is great. I was very disappointed however that my set was missing four pieces, the most I have ever experienced. This really detracted from the experience and I was only able to poorly substitute three of the pieces with ones I had of similar size and shape. Those really stand out from the distinct color scheme. The fourth piece is one of the silver ones on a gas tank and I have nothing to put there so is just a gap. Lego is a premium product that usually delivers a premium experience. The most missing pieces I had previously experienced were one from two much larger sets but usually they are all present. I hope this specific set was an anomaly in terms of there having been four pieces missing.

Not a toy to play with

We are disappointed with this one... as my son likes to play with the models. They are not meant to be just built and then sit on some self...
The truck version is fine, but the bot itself has a major issue with insufficient support for the middle part. The upper part and bottom part of the figure disconnect all the time when we try to play with it.
The same mechanism is used for models that carry less weight like Lego 71738 and it works. But this model is just too heavy for a solution like this 🤷♀️
We are really sorry to see that Lego is building models only to be built and displayed, not to be really played with 😥

Love this set!

As a lifetime Lego builder and childhood Transformer fan this set was a must have. If you don't transform it correctly pieces may come loose or fall off but that really comes down to user error. I had little to no issue with the transformation process when done as intended. Overall it was a satisfying build and I hope we get more Transformer sets in the future, preferably as close to scale with Optimus Prime as possible (so no 14 inch tall Bumblebee please).

An amazing collaboration

An amazing version of Optimus Prime that feels right. I got emotional while building it - two of my favorite childhood toys, Lego and Transformers, in one package. The transformation is very reminiscent of the original toy. The building of it was quick, and lots of mirrored building. It's also designed for display more than play, and that's fine. Eitherway, I'm very impressed and happy with this product.

My most favorite lego set

I grew up with legos and transformers and seeing both company’s make this set just made me happy and I’ve seen a lot of reviews on this set and overall I’ve seen a lot of positive reviews. I’ve seen a lot of people argue that it doesn’t have knees but as a builder who’s built alot of mechs I know that if it had knees the set would fall over due to the weight. Overall this set it awesome and I would have to recommend buying it.
