I would love to tell you how awesome this is....

Everything I have read about this set has been awesome. People seem to love it. I would love to echo those reviews. But.....I can't. Unfortunately, Mr. Bobby Bob in the lego set supply factory decided that multiple pieces from the 4th step didn't need to be in the bag.
Picture this...middle-aged nerdy dude super excited as he opens his lego Ferrari box. Opens up the instructions. Opens up the #1 bags and gets started. Come to #4 step, haven't even turned a page in the instruction booklet....and...letdown. Pieces missing. Can't even really start the build. Now I have to wait 10 days to get these pieces. I haven't looked ahead but who is to say that step 6 or step 10 isn't missing pieces. Then I will have to wait for those to come.
I love LEGOs but if one spends this kind of money on plastic bricks....call me crazy....but one would expect to have all of them there to actually be able to build it.

Being stuck in first gear while waiting for replacements is no fun and we're glad you got in touch to let us know. Your pieces will arrive from our home in Denmark and then you'll be speeding away in no time!
This is my fourth Super Car. I have loved them all. Book 1, instruction step 104 explicitly tells you not to use part 6261793. This is exactly the part that you should use. Just trying to help other Builders of this great set.

Thank you for calling out this mix-up! Our quality team is aware of it and on the case.
This is, perhaps, the most challenging build I’ve ever done. There are plenty of complexities to keep you engaged and fascinated. There are a couple steps that are literally “impossible” to do without wrenching the pieces together and a few other steps that could have been better with a few pieces placed in different orders. Also, a couple of the illustrations are not as clear as they could have been. But, all in all, the build was complex, exciting and detailed—and a whole lot of fun!
I am amazed at the detail this model provides, as well as the complexity of the moving parts. Let me tell you about one particular feature that is TOTALLY AWESOME!
So, while I’m building the gear box, I notice it has an 8-speed sequential transmission that switches gears automatically. Then, when I finish the model, I’m looking all over this model, and I be like, “How do you change gears?” I keep searching around and poking my nose all over the place. Then I follow the gears and axles and find the switching pivot. Hmmmmm…… Now, how am I supposed to reach this? Then I look inside the car, and I be like, “NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!” And LEGO be like, “WAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!”
I reach inside the cockpit of the car and grab the shifting paddle behind the steering wheel and THAT CHANGES THE GEARS! That goes beyond incredible—what a fascinating detail that I never expected!
I highly recommend this build to any expert builder. It takes some finesse and patience, but it is well worth the effort!
this is ridiculous, you raise prices and lower quality control. lego was once relaxing, but since 3 of the last 5 sets i have built have had missing pieces, i now get build anxiety. at least i got to bag 5 this time before the first missing part.

We're sorry to hear your building experience isn't going as planned. Let's take a look behind the scenes to see if we can help out: LEGO.build/Service-BV.
very eager to build this Ferrari, however, the mistakes in the manual completely destroyed my build experience. After spending HOURS just to realize something was wrong in the manual at the beginning. Taking everything apart was such a pain. decided to just return the product. They increasing the price but dropping the quality

This isn't the building experience we want for our fans, and are sorry our mistake caused such disappointment. We've made corrections to our online instructions and hope you'll give us another chance in the future!
This is the first Lego Technic set I've purchased and built since 1994 which was the Super Car 8880 set. I had a fun experience learning how to build with the new stud-less design that Lego has moved to. I enjoyed the build which I took my time and completed over a months time. I enjoy the technical aspects of these sets and have owned and built all the early Technic sets from the 80's. I really enjoy transportation models, cars, planes, helicopters, construction equipment. I made a few mistakes but I went back and found the issues. Went online and watched the reviews that pointed out mistakes in the build. Building Lego is a very Zen thing, you can forget about your troubles and get lost in the fun of building! It sure beats a jigsaw puzzle! I would like to see more cars come out in the 1/8 scale, Corvette, Mustang, etc along with more Airplanes and Helicopters! Keep up the good work!
Looks terrific as a display piece, but it's incredibly fragile compared to previous models. I have all 4 1:8 models - Porsche, Bugatti and Lamborghini can be easily picked up with one hand by the roof or really any element you fancy, Ferrari however falls apart as soon as you grab it in the wrong spot. The packaging feels premium, I would appreciate fewer plastic bags in the future. Instructions have multiple mistakes, which somehow were completely missed by Lego QA. One of the steps is completely missing (black diffuser parts). You can even see exposed red elements in the promotional photos, which is bizzare to me, considering that all they had to do was to ask Uwe Wabra to review those photos prior to the publication.

We always test and retest our toys to make sure they’ll hold up to play when they’re built exactly as shown in the instructions. Sometimes it could be a piece is just a little off from where it should be. Give us a shout at LEGO.build/Service-BV and we'll give you a hand troubleshooting the build. It would also be very helpful if you could point out the multiple mistakes in the building instructions so that we can pass them on to the right team.
