Wrong Instructions
on June 11, 2022
Posted by: watchura
The overall build and the set is pretty good, but instructions are wrong. Specifically Page 104 in Book 1.
There is two ball joints in the scale comparison, and it says you should use the smaller one, that is wrong. You should use the larger one. I was stumped by it and almost ordered a replacement part.
/n Suggestions to LEGO:
1. At least update your online printable instructions pdf.
2. Have a "known issues" repository to publish these corrections so that builders can refer that!

It was great fun building this Ferrari. All parts were in there with no issues. Similar to a previous post I also had the same issue with the engine hood staying open while building. This completes my set of high performance cars!

Do Not Underestimate This Set!

This is easily the most difficult Lego build I've ever done. So many of the steps are prone to connecting dangly bits in fiddly ways, much moreso than any of the other technic supercars.
Most of that is in service of the flowing bodylines of the completed model, and thankfully it does come together in a very satisfying way. The rear fender bulges especially feel organic in a way that is difficult to achieve in technic. The gearbox and rear-wheel-drivetrain were also fun to put together, with a new differential assembly that's got slightly more friction than the old gearing (so the wheels are more eager to turn together when the car is lifted up). The ability to easily re-align the steering is a nice touch, as are all of the printed elements.
All that being said, I don't think this is the Technic supercar you should buy if you are looking to get your first. Both the Lambo and the Chiron have all-wheel-drivetrains, which make the front end significantly more interesting to assemble. They're also somewhat less, hmm, creative, with bodywork assembly, which means the car feels more stable while building and comes together in a much more intuitive way. The Lamborghini's gearbox assembly is also nicely exposed on the bottom in a way that makes it easy to see what the shifts are doing.
Finally, it feels like a step backward in certain ways. The top is removable, but not storable in the front trunk like the Porsche Targa. The doors open based on switches like the Lambo, butthey only lift up about 45 degrees, and the switches themselves are hidden under the rear bodywork and the action to press them without assisting the door up is so difficult that it disconnected an internal mechanism the first time I tried to use it on the assembled model (why are all of the pegs friction pegs? i may order some loose pegs and change it as an experiment). That rear bodywork that lifts up does so using somewhat iffy supports, while the front trunk uses an honest to goodness prop (!). And there's no fitted luggage to go in the larger-than-average-but-not-large-enough-for-the-top front trunk.
But hey, it looks good on a shelf next to the Chiron and the Sian, so it's worth it if that's your situation.

Challenging Build

Fun build that is not repetitive. For the cost I would have expected no errors in the book. Also would have liked a deeper red similar to the real car. Also the gaps above the Ferrari logo on the doors bugs me. Would expect those to be closed up

NEED MORE TECHNIC FERRARIS!!!
on June 1, 2022

I LOVE FERRARI ever since I saw one when i was a little kid,the color, the dynamics, the style. I have collected EVERYTHING from ferrari, and now with legos, its been better. I have a huge collection of lego ferraris such as the speed champions laferrari, F8 tributo, FXXK and the 488 GTE (witch was the latest in my collection) and now A DAYTONA SP3?!?!, yes, i love every single detail to it, the wheels, engine, brakes, EVERYTHING, while buiding technic cars, its like an adventure through bricks and pieces, every piece is a masterpiece. I think LEGO and Ferrari are a great team!, I would like more ferraris in the technic series!!!

Lacks Detail and too Fragile
on July 29, 2022

I have had rather mixed emotions about this build. For one it’s beautiful the doors are incredible. I enjoyed the build. But a couple problems. First after the build the manual was incomplete on 2 pieces. Second it’s very fragile. Third I hate how some pieces are not smoothly aligned and for a Lego perfectionist it’s disappointing. The front end is also lacking when compared to the true model. When compared to my Bugatti that build was sold work of art. One major positive no stickers.
