Love the pizza oven and slab

I got the pizza oven for my husband for Christmas, we love it. It works so much better then the big green egg (too Smokey) or in our over (inconsistency with heating and messy). This is super easy and our boys (ages 6 and 3) love making their own pizzas and eating them.

Best wood pellets

I tried the other highly available brand, but it imparted a noticable off-taste in the pizza dough. Ooni pellets were clean burning with no weird flavors in the pies. Highly recommended.

New stone

Smashed previous (dropped Ooni; don't balance on top of bbq, it will fall) New one is bang-on. Will buy again when negligence affords opportunity. On a side note, other than the stone, the Ooni stood up well to the fall, not even a cut or bruise! Way to go Ooni family ! ;D

How hot is too hot?

Cooking with wood means it's sometimes hard to know how long to leave the pizza in the oven before turning it. The OONI laser thermometer makes it easy and safe to figure out the temperature inside your OONI oven so you have a better idea how long to wait each time you rotate the pizza. At around 900 degrees I find about 15 seconds in the oven between turns works well. If the oven cools to the 700's you'll need to add time between turns to get the same results. Using the thermometer has helped me cook pizza more consistently - recommend!
