Apart from being very useful for checking your pizza oven temperature, you can use it for a wide range of other uses, not just for the perfect pizza, thereby justifying the price tag

Without this, I was guessing when to put the pizzas in the oven. Now I have it, I realize I must have been putting them in nowhere near the correct temperature (probably only reaching around 200 degrees). This was largely down to not waiting anywhere near long enough - I've found it takes 30-45 minutes instead of the advertised ~15-20 mins.
Anyway, this thermometer and a bit of patience saved the day.
