Having had an Epson Artisan 810 for several years, very happy and functional until a pre-programed and unnecessary ink pad death. Purchased a new XP 800 anticipating the same level of product. I've had this one for 2 weeks, it runs through ink in a day...when the same level of printing as I did before would last for several weeks. Its been down, more than working. I had one beautiful print job...and since then it has been down because we are out of ink or the ink nozzles are clogged and after you do a test pattern and clean the print head....you are out of ink again. This is going back....

Worst Printer EVER!!

Since I purchased the XP-800 I have had to buy more ink than ever! Each cartridge comes only half full unless you buy the XL which is more money, same size cartridge, but still does not last. I can't even get 10 sheets without having to buy more ink. AND unless you change ink,it will not let you use the scanner. As a graphic designer, I have had epson printers for years, but never again. This one is not worth it.... STAY AWAY Wanted to return, but of course it's past the 14 days.

Well, I've had this printer for over a year now and have to say of all the printers I've owned, this is one of the best as far as printing goes and the BEST at working wirelessly. It's only rival was a ******* that did absolutely perfect pictures. Having said that, I had noticed when I first printed a photo the quality wasn't as good as I'd expected, so I set about calibrating it. I noticed that the lines in the test pattern didn't seem to line up just perfectly and I couldn't even see the yellow lines. I'm color blind, so I blew it off. Everything else seemed to work just fine. The wireless connection implemented flawlessly. The photos I would rate like a 9.5 out of 10. After a few months one day I noticed the printer said it was offline when I tried to print. There are a million hits on this if you Goggle it to try to get it back online. All of the answers are wrong and all are right. You just have to match them up. Reinstall the print software worked best for me, but while pursuing the elusive answer I called tech support at Epson and offhandedly mentioned the print quality. He had me run a few tests and told me the printer was defective. In 3 days I had another printer which they sent me at no expense to me. I put my old one in the box and sent it back. Amazing quality now. Mechanically the duplexer works excellent, printing on both sides has never missed a hitch. never had a paper jam. The adf (autofeed) has never tried to put 2 pieces through at a time. It's a well made machine.

Ink replacement issues

I purchased this product within the last year. It has work flawlessly until recently started rejecting newly purchased ink. I primarily use the printer as a back up printer but mostly for its scanning ability. This printer does not work as a scanner if a printer cartridge is not full.
I have since found that Epson does not recognize its own ink chips after a certain amount of time. I purchased this ink last month and have not used it almost at all and says ink cartridges that are full need to be replaced. There seems to be no fix for this and Epson does not send replacement cartridges in this case.
Unfortunately most people will not see this until they have a similar problem with their Epson printer.

I had problems with the new printer, starting right out of the box. The print quality was very bad. After a call to the manufacturer and a lot of wasted ink, the copies were OK. However, the print quality has not been consistent. The money I spent on ink for so few copies was not acceptable. I got rid of this printer, and got a new one that works great.

Excellent print/scan feature. High ink use.

I use this printer for home office, and it does not get high usage. The photo image quality is excellent. Text is generally high quality. Scan works as expected with, again, Epson's high quality. It sucks up ink, though. It has 5 ink cartridges: Black, cyan, yellow, magenta, and photo black. The standard black ink cartridge that came in the package was empty after printing 5 pages of text. The standard color and photo black cartridges are fareing better, but still faster than I expected. The ink is expensive, too. Plus it will not allow you to print if any one of the cartridges needs to be replaced. I like the brand and the quality, but I don't recommend this model based on ink usage alone.

So far the printer is working as it should. The first one they sent me did not print right out of the box. The only fault I find is that it is an ink hog. I only printed about 10 or 12 black & white text pages & the black cartridge ran out of ink. The color cartridges are about half empty. One good feature is that when the black cartridge ran out of ink I was still able to print. The printer asks you if you want to use the photo black ink. That's about all I have to say.
