Horrible

This computer goes thru ink like crazy, it does not feed paper thru the rear tray without running a blank piece of paper first, will not scan without ink and ink is on backorder. Worst printer we've ever had.

Ink consumption is extreme

Superb print quality and functionality, but this printer eats ink. Once one cartridge is empty (after 10 pages max), you cannot print. It is infuriating to not be able to print a black text document only because one color cartridges is empty.
Also, when installing a new cartridge, get ready to spend 1/2 an hour doing up to 5 nozzle checks before it prints without skips.

Avoid this printer

Epson has replaced it 3 times and same problem occurs. When initial ink runs out printer heads do not clean up correctly and replacement cartridges end up being used a great deal to clean heads.

Epson XP 800

Wow, this multi-functional printer is the best and easiest I have set up to date. Quality is outstanding, and the integration with mobile devices is a breeze. The main reason we chose this printer was its versatility - 2 sided copy, scan - 30 pg feed, and mobility - with the wi fi I no longer need to attach it to my desk top and with devices moving more into the wireless age it makes it easy to print from any device in range.
Only area I see for improvement is the output tray, it automatically extends to accept discharged paper but does not auto retract after print jobs are completed. I give it a 4.75 out of 5.

A disappointment for me
on August 23, 2013

I spent a long time researching all-in-ones online before selecting the Epson XP-800. I was excited about this printer as it had many features I was looking for, namely a rear paper tray, small overall footprint, impressive scanning capabilities, & excellent photo printing. The unit is very compact, scans very well on custom settings, and produce beautiful photos. However, for document printing, this product is a complete disappointment. I actually returned the first printer I was shipped as I assumed it must have been defective since text quality was so poor. I received a replacement unit which again never produced one single presentable page of text. All text is splotchy & fuzzy, & far, far from crisp. In the 3 weeks I had the second printer, I had to clean the print head twice because of colors unexpectedly dropping out, as compared to previous printers I have owned which required print head cleaning perhaps twice a year. This process uses an incredible amount of ink. Even after the cleanings, printouts would look spotty & unprofessional. I am still unsure how a printer that can print such wonderful photos is unable to print anything else effectively. I returned the second printer as well.

Disappointed and Expensive

This is our third Epson printer. This one is a complete disappointment:
1. Printer heads clog continuously. NEVER had that happen on previous models.
2. Constantly doing the nozzle check and clean.
3. Due to constant nozzle check and clean, the cartridges run out of ink.
4. When I finally figured out it was a faulty printer cartridge, upon returning it, the store gave me no hassle at all. HINT-They've seen it before.
There is something seriously wrong with this printer AND on top of it all, to buy the 'recommended' XL cartridges, you can only get them through Epson online. Or at least, that's my experience. Sad.

Worst Printer I have ever owned

Love the speed. That's all I love. This thing drinks ink like there's no tomorrow. At least when it actually recognizes a new ink cartridge. I can usually count on twenty minutes of testing and cleaning every time I change a cartridge--which is pretty frequently due to the aforementioned drinking problem. I'm ready to call it quits on this 2-month old purchase as I am spending a fortune on ink and lost time. No more Epson printers for me.

Space Saver / Easy to set up
on February 11, 2013

I recently upgraded to a new computer with Windows 7. So, felt it was time to consolidate my printer, scanner and fax machines to save some space. The XP-800 was super easy to set up. Faxing is easy as pie. General every day printing is a breeze. I have not tried the scanner yet, so can't comment on that.
Love that the printer is wireless, so no longer have this tangle of cords that use to be required when I had three different machines.
My only disappointment is the print quality of photos. I have yet to get one even half-way way decent photo printed. My old Epson Stylus Photo R340 had FAR superior print quality for photos.
I printed some pictures that I had also previously printed on my old printer. The previously printed photos are excellent. The exact same photos reprinted on this printer are simply, quite awful.
I am considering hooking up the old printer as well now, solely for printing photos.
So if you are not concerned about photo quality, I would highly recommend this unit. If photo quality is a concern, I would not recommend it at all.
I would recommend this to a friend!
