The XP 800 is a curse. It never works. Before the XP 800, I had an Artisan 725. Both were purchased ONLY because they are the only printers that will print on a CD/DVD disc. The Epson Atisan 725 kept me so out-of-sorts, I finally did myself a favor and three it out a third story window onto the street. I vowed to never buy another Epson but wound up with the XP 800 because nothing else would print on a disc.
I have been trying to print on a CD/DVD on a printable disc a dozen times for six months with your tech support. No luck. Still a future dream.
A few days ago the issue was being able to use cassette 1, cassette 2 and/or rear slot tray printing...4X^, 5X7 etc. With tech support, still it wouldn't work. We couldn't access the tray we wanted, then when we were able to do that, it would not print the sizes we chose. Nor would the rear slot single printing sized tray work.
It took three attempts with support to get the damned thing to work with WiFi.
The fact the XP 800 opens the way it does and closes the way it does is an obvious indication that this printer is some kind of wierd oxymoron.
Before the Artisan 725, I had an Epson 4000. They should call that unit The Ink Eater. I had technical trouble with it as well
I guess I will just have to go with stick on printed labels and chunk this XP 800 out the window and go buy another brand.

product not as good as hoped

My printer worked for 4 months, then some of the plastic feet on the gear broke off, affecting the printer's ability to pull paper thru the feeder. The printer did not have heavy loads to print, but was used to print approximately a dozen or so sheets of paper a week. I was sent a "refurbished" unit which was not working properly when I first tried it - the printing was coming out very faint and also, it arrived with ink cartridges almost empty. I tried replacing the ink and still no improvement. Then I was sent a "new" unit without the normal included items in a new unit box. It is working, just, but the print quality is still faint (cannot determine why) and I have only used it very lightly. I am not expecting it to last long and would not recommend another Epson product.

The printer does nice work. but it is a bit more complicated to use than my previous Epson printer. Still attempting to figure it all out, but that may be due to my years and not the printer! Last week we could not get it to print at all and my daughter called for help and they were very knowledgeable, and she was able to take care of the problem. Thank you

Just what I expected

Bottom line: The printer was easy to set up, and delivered as promised. This is what exactly what I was looking for.
I still don't know if it has the cheapest ink because I haven't used the printer enough but it is perfect for my home use. I was able to easily print from my iPhone and have set up an email address for the printer to send a print job remotely (the test during set up worked but have not tried it out yet). I haven't printed photos yet either. I tried out the scanning function and was able to save as a pdf - exactly what I wanted.
Some reviews complained about the small paper tray. Yes, it is small but if one wants a bigger one, they should choose a WorkForce rather than this Expressions line. For home use, this is fine.

So far the printer has been excellent. It easily receives messages from all my devices - computer, notebook, phone. I have printed good quality photos as well as normal print jobs. The scanner works as I had hoped. I still haven't had reason to use the fax component, so I can't yet speak to that feature.

I really do like this printer, with all the awesome features it has as well as the great prints that it produces. However, the cost of the ink is exorbitant, which is why it only gets 4 stars.

Fantastic multifunction printer with a small footprint. It has a ton of features in a small package at a great price point. I have been very pleased. The paper tray could be a little bigger, but other than that it is great. It has a lot of higher than functions like Airprint, Google Print, scanning directly to Dropbox, and printing directly on CDs!

Expression Premium XP-800 Printer

Prints beautifully, colors are sharp. Difficult to return the paper holders, they can be pushed in too far. Would be convenient if the cover would close automatically when shutting down. I've been unable to use the Wi-Fi feature even though I do have a wireless router.
