This printer is awesome. It's very easy to set up and installing ink is super easy. It prints at a great quality even when you select fast or grayscale printing. I like that the printing tray pushes out automatically when it's doing a printing job. I dont like that it doesnt go back when you turn the machine off (you have to manually push it back), but thats one little thing. This is the best printer ive ever bought!
I would recommend this to a friend!

I never have been able to download firmware upgrades from net
Most times cannot get through the printing of a document with an error occurring and the print job cancelling.
The same error and termination occurs when trying to print multiple copies
Just about ready to give up and unhook and replace the device
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This printer takes way too much ink and it is expensive. The cleaning process it does on its own but is initiated by me, when a page does not print perfect, takes too long and must be done several times for it to work properly. I need the manual to walk me through the steps. High maintenance. It also prints darker than the image on all three of my computers. The good thing is the wireless set up that works perfectly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Versatile yet finicky

Overall the machine works really well; the double sided document feeder and double sided printing has been good.
Really the only problem I've had is that the print software and drivers can be finicky when used as a network printer/scanner. Frequent timeouts with the scanner software are annoying when you're 100 pages into a 200 page scan. In maybe 1 out of 50 prints the printing software will be unable to send the document to the printer and also unable to delete it from the spooler. Restarting the computer and printer are necessary to clear it.

This printer does produce great color photos and other color items. However, its cartridges are TOO small to be of practical weekly use.

My entire loves this printer for its many features, especially the ability to print from their mobile devices. The Epson app to control the print quality and media a thumbs up.

My previous printer was an Artisian 810, which worked very well and was good on ink consumption.
Although the XP-800 prints well, it is a lot slower and uses much more ink.
