Excellent AIO when the ink cartridges work

This printer replaced an Epson Artisan 810 that I had owned and used for many years. I decided to upgrade because the XP-800 expanded on the Artisan's feature set to offer double-sided scanning and faxing, plus the ability to print from my iPhone and iPad. I'm pleased to report that it is also faster than the Artisan yet retains the older model's excellent printing and scanning quality and ability to print directly on CDs and DVDs.
I initially had problems with pale printouts that turned out to be caused by defective ink cartridges. All is well now, thanks to good support from Epson. They assure me that quality control issues with the 273-series cartridges have been addressed.
Beware of the print head cleaning function: it cleans ALL of the print system, not just any color that is clogged, and it uses a LOT of ink. Each cleaning cycle uses about 15% of the ink in each cartridge (regular size, not XL). My advice is to run it only once and replace any cartridge that doesn't come clean: you'll probably save money by not wasting ink in the good cartridges.

I currently have 3 printers. A Imagewriter that runs flawlessly since 1986. I also own a competitive product, that I find difficult to use with my iMac. Having just purchased this Epson XP-800 and am more than impressed with the fold out touch screen and its wonderful EASE OF USE. A perfect marriage to my newer iMac. The two work flawlessly together. Setup was so easy using Wi-Fi. I can't say enough about this unit.

This is the best all in one for the price. It's compact and easy to setup. Ink usage is very frugal (I loved this). Being able to print both sides of a page is not cumbersome as you do not have to remove and turn pages. Feeding table works well. Warm up time for scanning is very short and scans are good. The wireless printing is great. I'm looking forward for the next edition of this all in One and I hope Epson allows trade ins. In summary: this is the best bang for your buck at this time.

The quality of the printer is excellent but I have two complaints. The first is, two sided printing is extremely slow. The second is, when one of the ink cartridges runs out the printer locks itself out and you can't use the printer at all until you replace it. This is a great inconvenience.

Menu is very easy for even the novice user. Price is in line with previous brand I owned. Ink cartridges were readily available.
