I bought this printer about 6 months ago and am already having problems with it. The black ink stopped showing up and was printing very light, so I ran a nozzle check, and the black did not show at all. I followed this with print-head cleanings and after the third one, it popped up an alert that the black was not recognized (with a brand new Epson ink cartridge). I went to town and bought more black ink and installed it only to find the black was still not showing up after the nozzle check. I did another print-head cleaning and then it popped up that the cyan ink was not recognized. I emailed Epson about both, and they responded quickly saying new ink would be sent to me in 7-10 days. Having online classes requires me to print all of my school work, so I am now waiting on ink to see if the problem persists, and not being able to print documents needed for class. I am not going to buy more ink just to have the printer code out and not recognize it. If it happens again, I will be trying to return the printer and get a different kind. I read all the reviews before buying this printer and thought I was getting a good one, but so far not so good. It drinks ink like crazy! I go through almost a cartridge of each in a month only printing school work (which isn't a whole lot) I can't imagine being able to print more than a couple of pictures before needing to get more ink. Maybe mine is a bad one out of the batch, I'm not sure, but this being my first Epson purchase I am not very satisfied. I hope when the new ink gets here and I run the nozzle check, everything will work correctly and stay working correctly for the next few years. Until I receive the ink and re-run nozzle check, I cannot recommend this printer due to its faults after print-head cleanings and the fact that it uses so much ink. I will update if working properly once the ink arrives. I want to add that customer support has been wonderful with quick responses and they are sending me new ink to try in the printer.

XP-800 Censors go bad

This is my second XP-800, i.e., replacement for the first machine I bought in January 2013. By July, the sensors reading the ink levels were not working. It started with black 273, then moved to other colors, including photo black. Get another machine I have an Artisan 835 that works great.

Hate this printer

We've been an Epson family for years. I've loved them all, but really loved the last Artisan. I hate the XP-800. Quality of text printing has been sub-par. All of the sudden, the cartridges can't be read, quality of printing deteriorated, and I've wasted a ton of ink cleaning the heads -- still isn't working properly. I will be contacting Epson tomorrow to see if I can buy an upgrade to one of their quality (please) printers. Very frustrated.

THE WORST PRINTER IN THE WORLD

This printer is the 2nd. one I've had. Had to exchange the first one in less than a week, would not print black. Now the exchanged 2nd one will not print text, nor photos. This is the first time I have purchased an Epson and my last. It eats ink!!! It won't print photos without lines! It is less than a month old! Seems like I purchased a LEMON two times in a row!!!

Glitches

I had a Workforce 545 and had no problems. I recently purchased the XP-800 and have experienced problems. First if I printed a B&W copy the paper was blank. It turns out the black ink cartridge that came with the computer was no good. I am awaiting a new one to be shipped. Then I installed the Epson app so I could print from my phone. I had used the app before and it was simple and easy to use. However, now I get he message on my my cell that it will not print.

Disappointed

My husband and I were incredibly excited about this printer. It is recommended by Consumer Reports, fulfills all of our desired specifications, and is an Epson. We love Epson.
We purchased this printer in August 2013 and absolutely loved it for two and a half months. Then suddenly, the printer stopped working. It just won't put ink on the paper. We tried new ink cartridges, we spent hours going through troubleshooting sequences, we tried to find alternate solutions online, but nothing worked. The printer is completely dead.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this printer to other consumers.

I'VE HAD THE PRINTER FOR A WHILE BUT INSTALLED IT WRONG THE FIRST TIME. THEN I READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, BEHOLD. IT WORKS GREAT. JUST THE WAY I WANT THINGS TO WORK, EASY, NO FUSS AND SIMPLE. I HAVE HAD OTHER EPSON CD PRINTERS BUT THIS ONE WORKS THE BEST OF ALL.
I would recommend this to a friend!
