Worst Printer I've Owned

I bought this model new in May, 2013. It quit printing in July. Epson replaced it with a refurbished unit that arrived yesterday. It quit printing after 30 pages. The printer gobbles ink & the cartridges are expensive. Printing speed is very slow.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Took a total of 5 printers to get one that worked and even it has issues (warped ADF cover). Installed registration/update software crashes daily. Tech support at Epson is clueless. Epson quality has hit a new low in my book.
Print quality doesn't compare to my old Artisan. Print speeds are faster if you consider that a plus. Paper tray is awkward to load, control panel must be in the extreme upward position when printing. the automatic paper tray is flimsy, printing to cd is a pain compared to the Artisan. Overall a poorly thought out and implemented design. 3 stars is a generous rating for this series of printers from Epson.

I purchased this Epson XP 800 as a replacement for an other brand that had gone south after a few years. The setup instructions were crystal clear, but make sure you read the startup notes before setting up. The printer was set up in less than an hour and working wirelessly from my desktop iMac, my MacBook Air set up next to my digital piano I use for composing and from my iPad in the living room. The text print is clear and especially noted was how clear the musical score was, even to the very small triplet notations. The proof of any product, however, lies with its longterm service. So far I have printed out abut 150 pages of B&W text, several pages of mixed B&W and color, about a dozen color photographs and several B&W and colored full page copies and have yet to make dent in the ink supply.
After more use, I will return with another review to tell how it works in the long run.

Epson needs to address the small print cartridges

I bought this for the air print feature for my iPad and was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to install. The only con is the print cartridges are very small but a big price to replace. I almost returned it but needed a descent printer.

I just purchased this Epson xp-800 printer/scanner a few days ago and I can't believe how nice this device is. I can print and scan from my iPhone and iPod Touch. I also printed several JVC Watershield DVDs--all with excellent quality. Well done Epson.

The set-up guide was easy to follow and installation, including wireless set-up, was a breeze! Prints fast and the quality is excellent.

GREAT PRODUCT, love this all in one print the xp 800, would recommend to anyone. copies quick, print quick and quiet. love the way the paper trays are hidden until they need to come out. love love this product.

Avoid this machine

Right now, sitting unused at the end of my desk, is my Epson Expression Premium XP-800 Small-in-One® Printer. It's my second one. The first wouldn't print correctly. Streaked, blotchy, prints. Ran countless head tests and changed all the inks for brand new cartridges--no go. Brought it back, swapped it out for the same model because, I thought , anyone's entitled to a screw up and Epson's always been good by me. New one printed and scanned okay for a few weeks. Now my computer can't see it and it can't see my computer. Bought a new printer cable. Didn't help. Reinstalled software. Didn't help. I bought this with the extended warranty so, I'm covered there when I bring it back, but it's going to be a long time before I return to Epson products--and after 15 years of satisfaction with other Epson equipment that's a hard thing to have to say.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
