The XL is my fourth Traeger and without a doubt the best. I have handed down two Traegers to my son and my son-in-law and sold one. The XL fixed every issue I have with all of my prior Traegers. The XL reaches temp quickly, heats more evenly, maintains temp much better, 4 connected probes are not perfect but close enough ,(I still use instant read thermometers to verify), grease and ashes are collected conveniently and the pellet bin is easily emptied for changing pellets. AND the induction plate is an amazing plus for many uses.

Wifre is garbage!

I have bought my last Traeger. I'm tired of the Wifire connectivity issues. The thing will not stay connected to the Wi-Fi so I can us the App. Moving it closer to the Router is not an option. Traeger needs to do better.

Hello, and thanks for reviewing the Timberline XL. If the grill does connect, but then drops, it should be easy to figure out why. The first step for any kind of WiFi issue is simply checking the grill’s firmware version to eliminate it as a possible cause. For the Timberline XL, this information can be found by going to Menu > About Grill, then comparing the info provided in the Display and Software fields to what is listed for your model on traeger.com/status. You can also check if the Traeger app on your phone needs to be updated by looking under the settings and verifying the version on the same status page. But the easiest way to determine why the connection keeps dropping is reaching out to Traeger Customer Service. Not only can an agent help check firmware and app versions, but they also have access to a tool for checking the network for any kind of conflicts. When you have some time, please give us a call at 1-800-TRAEGER. Our lines are open 7 days a week until 10:00 PM MT.

Terrible grill for the money. Buggy controls and

Started off great then went downhill. The grill will no longer connect to Bluetooth or WIFI. The temperature is off now too. The Traeger sales rep said this grill uses 30% less pellets but it seems to use more. Probably because of the temperature fluctuations. I have an older 650 Pro Traeger and I’m glad I kept it because this one is going back. I Really wanted this grill to work but it is too buggy.

Hi, and thank you for reviewing the Timberline XL. Typically, if a grill loses a connection that it had previously maintained then it should simply come down to finding what was changed. Either there was something externally that affected its access to the network, or possibly a change with the grill itself. As for the potential external causes, this is usually related to some modification of the WiFi or phone that the grill was paired to. But regarding the latter, you can easily verify this by trying a different compatible device and seeing if you get the same results. On the grill side, anytime your Traeger drops the connection you’ll always want to go through the Forget Network steps first before trying to reconnect. For the new touchscreen models like the Timberline XL, this is done by going to the Main Menu and selecting WiFIRE connectivity > WiFi Info > Forget Network > Yes. Once done, try the pairing process again. In reference to the temperature and pellet use, for this to occur suddenly after working ok previously is usually indicative of a problem with the pellets. Compromised pellets are the #1 cause of temperature issues, and can be the result moisture absorption, or even dust buildup in the bottom of the hopper. A quick verification or pellet quality is breaking a few between your fingers to see if they either easily crumble apart, break cleanly in half, or something in-between. If it is anything other than a clean break, you may want to try new pellets. But if the above steps don’t work, or you would simply like some help with going through them, please give us a call at the Traeger support line. Not only can one of our agents assist with connecting the grill, but they can also see why your temperature performance has changed and help get it back running the way it should be.

Grease bomb!

Timberline 1300! Fire bomb every time you light it. They designed a bad grease drop and do not stand behind their products. Every time I light it burns my screen patio and is a danger to my family! It’s wild.

Thanks for your feedback. The best way to prevent a fire from happening, is to give a deep cleaning to your grill in order to remove any build up of grease or ash. Also, it is a great way to ensure it always performs as expected. Check out our Support Site to learn more about grill fires and how to maintain your grill.

Best grill on the market

I have had the XL for about a year now. This is by far the best grill on the market, the build quality is amazing. I have ran it for over 24 hrs straight on multiple occasions and as long as it has pellets it will smoke anything you throw at it to perfection.

I bought it just before Father’s Day and last night I cooked my first brisket which it should be done in about an hour. It stayed at temperature with some fluctuations and the wireless probe connected without a problem. This is an expensive smoker/grill and the real test will be this winter.
