Hi, and thank you for reviewing the Timberline XL. The grill will allow some smoke to be released from different areas, though mostly from the back vent and sometimes even a little from around the lid, but other places are ok as well as long as it’s not extreme. However, if you believe it is coming from other areas a lot more than should be expected, please reach out to Customer Service to have an agent to go over the situation to determine if it is normal, or something a little more uncommon.

Better in every way

I upgraded from the Timberline 1300 to the Timberline XL and I am loving it. It’s literally better in every way. So many small details have been upgraded along with the obvious things like the new design, induction stovetop, and new ash clean up. In my opinion it’s worth the money, an amazing smart grill/smoker. Just get it!

THIS SMOKER HAS LIVED UP TO EVERYTHING PROMISED AND THEN SOME! THE APP IS AMAZING! I HAVE DONE RIBS, PORK BUTT, RIB EYES, AND PORK BELLY / CHUCK ROAST BURT ENDS AS OF TO DATE...ONLY 4 WEEKS IN!!! THIS IS A TOTAL OUTDOOR KITCHEN. FOLLOW THE TRAEGER VIDEOS AND YOU WILL GET AMAZING REULTS. I DID NOT USE THE SEASONINGS SOLD BUT DID USE TRAEGER PLELLETS. I WAITED FOR A LONG TIME TO PULL THE TRIGGER ON A TOP OF THE LINE SMOKER AND COULD NOT BE MORE SATISFIED!

Love the Wy-Fi

I received my Timberline XL as a gift and took about a week to learn how smart this pellet grill really is! But knowing is believing! I live in Alaska and even at 15F the smoker performs great, yes it does take some more time to get up to temperature. We shall see ol “smokes-a-lot” does at -30F. I have smoked evething from cheese to chicken, French bread, beef tenderloin and every time the Timberline has out dun it’s self! Great grill!!

What a beast!

I've had my new Timberline XL for a few months now and it's awesome. I held of on getting a smoker for a long time and finally took the plunge with this beast. Not for the faint of heart at this price point, but worth it when compared to other top of the line options.
It cooks great. What can I say. With the app, anyone can look good. Easliy cooks meals for 40-50 people without shuffling things around. All the accessories are well made and integrate perfectly.
My only criticism is the wifi sometime loses connectivity and I know it's not the signal. It also only runs on the 2.4GHz frequency, so I had to supplement with a cheap router almost exclusively for the grill since my home network (and many other's) is 5GHz and cannot run on 2.4 with a wifi mesh.
All told, I am cosplaying Tim the Toolman with this thing, and loving every minute.

Haven't been able to use it yet. Waiting on a second part to come in so it will work properly. Was told by a Traeger representative when I bought it that it would arrive assembled, all but the side burner. Not the case. However, when it finally starts to work correctly I'm sure my rating will improve. Until then, this is where we are at.
