What it is: a really pretty good mattress. I believe that if you are like me, a person who prefers the more firm foam mattresses prevalent in Europe then you will like the Casper. Actually, some of my friends from various countries abroad think it's still a bit too soft for their tastes. Comfort is obviously very individual, and maybe the folks who like coils and fluffy pillow top mattresses are not the kind who will like this product. But for me, whose old memory foam mattress was overdue for a change out, the softness/firmness quotient is really, really great. I have longtime nagging lower back pain, and the mattress really has helped me on that somewhat. I used to frequently wake up aching and stiff. That doesn't really happen anymore.
As other folks have stated, its very easy, and mildly entertaining to unbox it. There's not a lot of extra packaging material in the box, but there is unfortunately a whole lot of plastic wrap keeping the mattress tight, small and air free during shipping. Unwrapped it and it starts to grow..
The size fits well and looks much better than the memory foam mattress on the platform bed, mine is a Modernica "Case Study" example which also has a perforated metal frame below the mattress - I think that also contributes to the firm comfort level versus wood slats or whatever other things frames might be made of.
There are so many choices out there and I did a lot of online research prior to purchase. There are a lot of review sites devoted to the topic. In the end it was a balance of mattress materials / firmness preference, and cost. The Consumer Reports review test of this Casper model versus the premium priced Casper (not worth the nearly 2x cost in their opinion and reportedly softer), and of other mattresses was pretty helpful to me. That and the fact that I'd gotten Casper all cotton sheets in the past and have found them to be very high quality and comfortable. Months later, I haven't regretted the choice at all.
What it isn't. NOT a pillow top cloud experience, nor is it like sleeping on concrete. If you have back trouble it wont totally cure it. But it might help. It definitely has for me, and it's been a pretty comfortable nights rest on a regular basis.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far so good. I love my Casper mattress; delivered when they said, and I had to leave it in the box for a couple of weeks. But when I pulled it out it was easy to unroll and then it settled onto my bed with no issues. No smell. SO comfortable. Its firm and soft at the same time!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's ok, can't say I hate or love it. I wish I could say I did love it though. I keep thinking that within days I will start to because the company says it may take 30 days to get used to.
Nothing better than a casper mattress that I’ve ever had.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to assemble. I bought the whole deal and was a deal. Incredible mattress, simple and smart supportive bed frame and stand. Couldn’t ask for more complete or comfortable sleep at night.
Finally after waking up in pain, I had enough and bought a casper. At first my back and body hurt worse. But then, in about a week, my body got use to sleeping correctly and it has made all the difference. I dont wake up with pain in my back, neck, or hips anymore. I feel amazing and wish I had made this move sooner!
We just bought two Casper mattresses in 6 months, and if we had more bedrooms we’d buy one for each! It makes such a difference to know every night we’ll get a consistently good sleep. It’s worth every cent of the investment.
