Worth the price for peace of mind!

Our son is a preemie and was in the NICU for 11 days, so we got used to watching the monitors for his O2, heart rate and more. This sock is a lifesaver for us in terms of quelling our anxiety while he sleeps. I'd be up every five seconds watching him breathe if not for this little sock. Of course, it's not perfect: my main complaint is the range of the sock to the base station isn't very good, especially in this day and age with bluetooth technology how it is.

Keeps my anxiety at bay!

As a first time mom, with high anxiety and fear I am one of the ones who was constantly always placing a finger under their nose poking a baby to make them wake up anything to make sure that he is still breathing and is still happy and content. But as we all know what comes with that you don’t get sleep, I was up at all hours of the night. With this, so I initially was hesitant, because of how expensive it was, but it was the best investment I could ever make for my baby. I can with no fear no anxiety and no that my baby is OK thanks to the owlet. If you are hesitant about it, just make the leap and get it you will not regret it!

The idea of the sock is great. The app needs work. It’s annoying when I’m getting the baby ready for bed and I take the sock off of the charger and if the sock isn’t on the baby it will start going off a minute later every minute until the sock is on. Which I’m sure you could imagine changing your baby’s diaper and clothes and getting ready for bed and this alarm keeps going off. I wish there was a feature where I could say the sock will be on the baby in 10 minutes or so. The app takes a minute to load when you open. The sock does give me a peace of mind. I’m constantly getting sock placement alerts which is super frustrating and when I check on my sleeping baby the sock from what I could tell is on correctly. The other night it was fine for 2 hours while she while she was sleeping then randomly started going off again and again and eventually after checking the sock 3 times I just unplugged it because it was easier than unswaddling and waking up the baby to take the sock all the way off and try again. My baby I believe is in between sizes right now so that might be the issue. I’ve been using the sock for about 2 months now and just this past week the app will tell me she’s sleeping when she’s in my arms eating which it has to do with her heart rate and movement but it’s happened a few times so now I don’t know if I believe it when it tells me. The pulse is very spot on. My husband is constantly checking her pulse and comparing it to the app and it’s always spot on.

My daughter was in the NICU at birth, so getting her home and making sure she was ok was and still is a big deal to my husband and I. Now that she is older it turns out she has “reactive airways” what this means is when she gets sick, her bronchioles clamp down and tank her O2 saturations. Having this device has been a game changer in caring for her through these episodes, I can see when she’s starting to run a fever, how well her albuterol treatment worked, and when I need to seriously consider taking her to the ER. I love this product. The only thing I wish was better is the process of pairing your phone to the owlet when traveling/using a different wifi. I still haven’t figured it out and wish that could be a streamline process.

Overall, this device has been a lifesaver in providing peace of mind for us as first time parents. It was a little difficult to initially connect to our Wifi though. And my baby wakes up from sleep and I move her too far from the dock (diaper change, take her into another room, etc.) the dock alarm goes off that the sock is loose or the dock isn't picking up a reading. If they could enhance the technology so that it could read further away, that would be ideal. But I'd still recommend purchasing it. It's been great to monitor the heart rate and oxygen levels, particularly in the early newborn days, when our daughter has been sick, etc.

After a birth that required us to spend a few days in the nursery, we decided to purchase the Owlet sock. For us, it’s a way to feel reassured since she had a similar sock at the hospital. We know she’s always being monitored!
