Worth every penny – best baby purchase for us!

After having lost my nephew to SIDS, I knew I needed a reliable monitor to keep my worries under control. The Owlet Dream Sock (or "magic sock" as we call it) has been a game changer and we've used it every single night for the past 9 months. Compared to other monitors, it doesn't ever go off by accident. Thank you, Owlet!

App needs lots of work

For the most part, our sock gives us peace of mind when we put our baby to bed, but there have been many times that the sock randomly disconnects from the base or the app decides not to work. The app is slow and glitchy. I feel like for the sock’s price point, the should be much more efficient.

We really love having the extra peace of mind knowing our baby is monitored. We are excited for the new updates from post FDA approval that will allow for better monitoring and reassurance.

Ok, but needs major upgrade

Like many others, I purchased this sock for peace of mind, which it provides. I love seeing in real time the transition from wakefulness, to light, to deep sleep. This has been an overall good purchase. However, like others have mentioned, the obnoxious alarm, when the sock isn't positioned right is overwhelming. The quality of the sock itself is poor. I can see the fabric coming apart and both the grey and green layers separating more & more each day. The battery life is atrocious. I wish the battery lasted longer than 16h. I also wish the spo2 sensor wasn't so sensitive. At times, the base wakes everyone up, including the baby because it can't get a good reading. After adjusting the sock and silencing the alarm a few times, I find myself ditching the sock some nights because it's too much of a hassle. Also, this is an additional note, unrelated to the sock 3, but I purchased an expensive, used owlet 2 on marketplace not knowing that the app was discontinued. I didn't like having to buy the 3 because of this inconvenience. It seems like a lot of other people were in the same boat.

It gives great piece of mind. However, software is VERY slow to load and the range of the base station is a bit low. If you walk with the baby out of range, the Dream sock needs to be readjusted, or the alarm notification needs to be muted for any reason then it could take up to a minute to open the app and have it connect to the base station to turn it off. At least in these situations they are doing their job, but it would be nice for the wifi enabled base station to be a bit more responsive when you want to mute the alarms. Clicking the base station temporarily mutes the alarm, but only temporarily, which is not helpful if you happen to be just out of range. From what I hear the software is generally more useful outside of the US, and hopefully that usability can be available everywhere soon.

Great peace of mind with a horrible app that misses data, takes too long to update data, has to reload data every time you open it making it hard to tell at a quick glance of baby's status, doesn't load the latest data for 20-30 mins even if you shut down and restart the app, doesn't allow for multiple users to log in to same device so nanny will have your account and get alarmed even when they are off hours since you can't set user roles,

This thing constantly loses connection to the base station or "has trouble reading" and when all is fine and quiet in the middle of the night and the alarm starts going off because it all of a sudden can't read vitals, good luck going back to sleep after having a mini heart attack. And the app has a hard time loading too. It frequently clears itself and shows no vitals for minutes before refreshing so I find myself spending most of the night waking myself up to check on my baby because this thing is too inconsistent to really trust it. And let's not even start on the price point for the value....
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Buy it!!

As a first time mom and being so paranoid about my baby at night, I truly recommend you buy this! I honestly was that person that wasn’t going to buy this and thought it was silly or expensive, but in all honesty I’m so glad I ended up buying it, it gives me a sense of peace at night knowing if his oxygen levels are low or he’s moving too much I’ll get notified. Don’t think it’s a text notification, it’s a loud sound you can’t miss so you definitely get alerted! It comes with 3 size socks so you can use it as they grow! It’s also nice that it has the ability to tell you when they are in deep sleep or how their sleep quality is doing.
