We purchased this the night my baby was born; The Owlet Dream Sock was something we put on our registry early, but battled back and forth on purchasing the whole pregnancy. We saw endless reviews saying that it wasn’t a good product, that the app didn’t work, that it was useless. But the night our baby was born, I was restless when he was crying and I was restless when he was quiet— I couldn’t ease my fears about whether or not he was breathing. I had a long labor and ended up having a c-section. I was unable to walk for half a day because of the swelling in my legs and the pain from getting up from the bed, so once nurses were done performing their many checks, my baby would fall asleep in the bassinet just a few steps away from the hospital bed. I worried about taking him home — if I was this worried in the hospital, I’d be even worse when we got home!!
Needless to say, I bought it with overnight shipping and didn’t even think twice about the price tag. It was on my doorstep for when I was discharged from the hospital. To be honest, it was horrible that first night. The base played the “Hush little baby, don’t you cry” melody almost every hour, waking the baby up. Once the app connected, it would play on the phone, too. We didn’t know that just hitting the button on the base would only pause it. So it went on all night, hush little baby, just blasting from 2 devices. We laugh about it now, but it was a lot to take in as new parents.
Now that we’re better about sock placement, turning on the app right when the sock is on, and removing the sock from the base right before putting it on the baby, we’re having a way better time. I knocked a star off for the app not compiling the data after the current session ends; For example, during the current session, it’ll show you a breakdown of the time spent awake or in light/deep sleep versus the session length. Once your session is done, the history isn’t as detailed, so we’re kinda missing out. Additionally, the app lags sometimes when it’s reporting the readings. It says it’ll take 10 minutes, but sometimes it will take longer (upwards of 30) if you don’t have the app on continuously after it’s on baby. Other than that, great product. Bought it to confirm baby is breathing at night and to alert me if not— and it accomplishes that! Just wished the app was better for such an expensive product ;).

The only way I can get ANY sleep at all! The owlet gives me peace of mind and was the only way I would let my baby move from my room to her own room at 6mos.

We absolutely love the owlet sock! it shows the oxygen level and heart rate, I love that it goes off if there is something wrong with the baby, or if the sock is placed wrong to let us know to get proper readings

Amazing invention! Helps give me a piece of mind at night. When my babies oxygen dropped below 81% while she was in a deep sleep, it immediately alerted me and flashes a bright red light. Super helpful would 100% recommend to everyone. I used a cheaper and different brand with my other child in 2021 and it alerted me incorrectly and ended up breaking. This one has not alerted me incorrectly at all. 100% worth the money spent.

The Owlet Dream sock is one of the best baby items I have purchased. It has given me such piece of mind when my babies are sleeping, knowing they are being monitored while I also get sleep. I recommend it to everyone who’s pregnant or has a baby.
