Auto Sizing Pan Detection

After our “Pan Detection” sensor failed on the main burner for the first Frigidaire induction cooktop we bought just 4-5 years ago, we decided to replace it with this one, which is the “newer” version of the one we had, practically identical. We finally had it installed after some waiting due to it being on backorder and all seemed good until I decided to confirm the Auto Sizing Pan Detection was working after a pair of steaks on a cast iron pan cooked very unevenly…and to my surprise the Auto Sizing Pan Detection is not working on either of the 2 larger burners. In the pic you’ll see a full-size induction ready pan that covers the entire heating element surface, I filled it with a layer of water, and as you can see only the small inside induction ring is activating (I repeated the test with a full size cast iron pan and had the same result). So, I essentially have a brand new 36” cooktop that I can only cook on with little pans. Sadly, I did this test literally 32 days after purchasing it, big mistake (check this on day of delivery with the installer there). Best buy sent me to Frigidaire to work through it under Frigidaire’s warranty. After a few days of dealing with that, Frigidaire sent out a 3rd part repair tech a week later. He came, confirmed that stove top was not working, and said they would get back to me (this is day 41 after installation). We are now on day 52 after installation and have not heard back from either Frigidaire or the 3rd party tech. When I called Frigidaire they instructed me to keep working with the other company, and the other company is telling me they’ll get back to me.

We have installed it in our new kitchen and have yet to have it work for more than 3 minutes! We get error codes and can’t use it.

New Induction Cooktop Experience
