This watch does everything I need it to do plus it's solar....keeps running in the sun. It gives me all the info I need to keep track of my daily routines.

Best Battery Ever

I have to say that this is an exceptional watch. All the features really come together and they track very closely. Not to mention the amazing battery. I get roughly 14 days of battery life and I can get more if I go solar on it.

Size, weight, style, and battery life are GREAT!

Love the battery life and features. Had multiple Fitbit watches for years that seem to die every 18 months. Still getting used to all the options and menus. Only issue is tracking floors seems very inconstant, my Fitbit (on other arm) and iPhone seem to be more accurate than Instinct 2 Solar. Trying to figure out the ratio logged or logic even with re-calibration, missing about a third of the other two. The Garmin does a much better job of tracking steps compared to the Fitbit, petting the dog or cat does not show up as steps. Only had it a couple of weeks and not used many features but very impressed.

Really happy with the battery life which, surprisingly to me, is genuinely as advertised. It has all the features I was looking for (GPS, sleep tracking, health monitoring, notifications.) The solar charging is nice and I assume it at least maintains the battery level but I wouldn't rely on it if I was out and about and down to a couple of %. I was wondering if I'd miss the touch-screen capabilities like my last watch had, but no, you just need to learn what the buttons do.
The only "issue" I've had is when it thinks I have a notification that has already been dismissed from the phone but it remains on the watch. However, it's simple to manually dismiss it (and block the app from sending more if necessary.)
Connection to my phone was easy, as was connecting to a new phone.
My only complaint is that the watch face has a rough protective outer ring (just inside the blue face frame) and if you clean the face with a lens cleaner it catches on it leaving a bit of residue behind which can be a pain to clean off. Overall, I'm very happy with Garmin though.

My favorite watch yet
on May 25, 2023

I have previously owned an Apple Watch, Forerunner and Instinct (version 1)...this is by far my favorite timepiece yet. It can be as simple as you want it to be or as advanced as you prefer. When I owned my Apple Watch and it broke, I realized I was so tethered to my phone. Transitioning to Garmin assisted me into a better balance of life choosing to not have notifications sent to my wrist. I still have calls go through (because they are far and few between and usually used when an emergency is happening)
Anyway, the battery life on this puppy is FANTASTIC! After a full charge it will go for 27 days without any extra features going on (GPS, activities, etc.) However, with the solar addition, when I am out and about I get a little pick me up which I love. I usually go for 3-4 runs (6+ miles each) a week along with sessions of yoga and the battery still lasts over two weeks. I also think the comfort of this watch (though I think it is larger than the others) is so much better than anything else I have worn.
All things considered, I absolutely love this watch and hope you do as well if you try one out. :)

Hit or miss tracking & app. Very disappointed.

First Garmin watch...probably my last. Floors are not updated at least a third of the time. My phone even registers more flights climbed and I usually do not have my phone with me. Daily step goal increases but steps on the watch do not carry over to the app totals. May have something to do with sleep mode. Cannot trust any of the simple data so I am not sure if the health data I purchased the watch for is even close. A Fitbit that is 1/4 the cost at least matches phone data. Watch style, size, and battery life are great and worth one star. A Timex Ironman does that for 1/10 the cost, Not sure if it is the watch or the app, met my goals but app history says 'no I did not'. Sounds silly since I am not competing against anybody but myself but what shows on the watch at night should at least carry over to the app when updated. Especially when I went out of my way to check all the boxes.

The features I need.

I had a choice between and Apple watch and the Instinct 2. About the same price. My wife's Apple watch display is gorgeous, but it must be recharged every 1 or 2 days and needs a phone to pair with. My instinct 2 is on day 16 and it says it still has 13 days to go. I really love the freedom that offers me. Also love all the different features and options. For me this is the perfect solution.
