Worthy piece of gear. Has most of the features you'll need.

As I said...I'm sure the newer models will address this but just being able to see a text/email that has come through can be annoying. A minimal amount of reply capability would be nice. Would be a 10/10 if that was the case. Comfort and usability takes some getting used to but is great once you put in some time. Size and color options are also nice as everyone has their own wants and needs when it comes to aesthetics.

Overall, this watch is perfect. Has all the features you want with long battery, solar, and isn't distracting like some watches. I have an Apple Watch, but haven't worn that since getting the instinct.

Great for sports and daily wear

I had an Apple Watch but didn't mesh well with it. I like to wear mechanical watches when I'm not doing athletic things. I was down to Garmin and Fitbit. I really prefer the build quality and functionality of Garmin over Fitbit. The app works great. I play rec league ice hockey and it tracks that well. Lots of good data to compare to gym days and the intensity of various workouts. I'm glad I got the solar for the extended battery life. I played an out of town rec league tournament and the battery lasted the whole trip, even while it was tracking 2 games a day in some cases. I would definitely recommend this for people who want a G-Shock-esque watch that has all of the GPS and activity tracking that Garmin watches can offer.

Hard to read the watch face.

Could just be my old eyes but whether it's messages other biometric details I have to squint or look extra hard to read it.
The heart monitor also seems to be all over the place. I have several and this one seems to be off by about 30 to 40 beats constantly, in both directions. Basically makes it worthless... but it looks cool on my wrist.
I would not get this watch again.

Bought this watch to replace a Garmin Forerunner 735XT. I use the GPS for workout tracking around 3-4 times a week and absolutely love the battery life with this watch. I was only getting a few days with the 735xt but I get a few weeks with the Instinct. Data fields are easy to use and navigate. If your looking for increased battery usage over the forerunner line this is the watch for you. The solar feature works well and shows you how much sunlight your getting to the watch face.

Great product, used for running, hiking, any activities outside. Very accurate data when your tracking it. The solar is a great addition I work in wildfire so not having to charge my watch every day is a huge bonus it can last me up to 2 deployments if I'm not tracking.
