I love this watch beyond belief. It gives me all the data for the long list of activities I have chosen. I wear it all the time so it tracks my sleep, my RHR, the sleep quality, and seems to be pretty accurate in telling me when I'm overreaching and something it calls "stressed", which is past overreaching. It is my constant companion and I have even named it.
I really like it. Although i wish it had audio that could play and short reply message options like ok, or thats great and stuff. Still really cool though!
This is my first Garmin watch and my first wear-it-all-the-time fitness watch. In general I'm happy with it. I don't love wearing it 24/7 but I've found the data it provides useful--mainly the HRV tracking and detailed stats from fitness activities. I also enjoy being able to go on a run or a bike ride and either leave my phone behind or conserve its battery while the Garmin tracks my activity. I even used it to track a moderate distance open water kayak paddle and it seemed quite accurate. For some reason it only seems to display weather data intermittently--though that's not a major concern. A few specifics:
The smaller profile of the Instinct is nice but I find it difficult to read in many scenarios. The text is small and the contrast is low--makes it difficult to read while in motion in low light and I typically run in the early morning hours when it's still dark.
The battery takes a toll when you track activities. If you're tracking all day while hiking, biking, paddling, etc., you'll need to charge the battery every 1-2 days.
Even though the watch connects to my phone via bluetooth, it won't sync with the app unless connected to a cellular network.
When I first set it up the watch was constantly alerting me of notifications from my--news apps, messages, social media, etc. I changed the settings to eliminate app notifications but I still occasionally get app notifications, often when I am in the middle of a workout.
Since it tracks my activity all the time it counts anything remotely active toward my "intensity minutes" goal. For Garmin, this includes the multiple dog walks I take daily, which are far too liesurely to be considered intense.
Otherwise, decent product that does what you need it to do.
Exactly what I needed.no touch screwed but you can get weather, gps, quick text responses . And a 15 day battery life with 30% backlight even longer if you lower it more!
I received my Instinct 2S Solar today. I have had it on charge for 3 hours. I have followed all tutorials, hard resetting it, etc. The watch is faulty from the onset and I am so disappointed. I would never expect a totally defective watch to pass through Garmin as I would expect there to be quality control measures and testing in place prior to packaging.
