Everything but surf.

Overall Garmin Instinct 2 Surf edition is better than the Apple watch as far as capturing training stats, sleep, steps however the built in surf app is pretty lame. The GPS goes in and out. Every time I catch a small wave the watch will ask me if I want to "resume" the activity. It counts waves I didn't catch because I'm paddling too hard. The Dawn Patrol app on the Apple is excellent and should have been copied.

Love the new features

I love the new look, and new features. I love this watch , my only fear is that I use the watch SO much , that this is my third watch due to watch malfunction. I hope it last longer!

Long Battery Life - poor surf tracking feature

After coming from an Apple watch, the surf tracking feature is a huge disappointment. The first few times I took it out surfing, it tracked way more waves than I know I actually surfed. Decided to wear both my Apple Watch and The Garmin Instinct together to see the discrepancy. After my session checked both watches, the Apple Watch had me riding 11 waves (which seemed correct) and the Garmin had me riding 23. I seems like the Garmin cannot differentiate between waves you actually caught and waves you paddled into but did not catch. Considering I bought the Surf Edition model for the actual surf feature, I am highly disappointed. Aside from the incorrect surf tracking it's a great watch. Now going on 2 months and have not had to plug it in for charging once which is a nice relief compared to nightly charging of my Apple Watch.
At this point, if I want accurate surf info, I will use my Apple Watch, but switch to the Garmin Instinct for everything else. Kind of ridiculous that a watch labeled "Surf Edition" can't even do the one thing it was designed for correctly.

Rugged is not the word I’d use, avoid!

Not impressed at all, for a watch with such a hefty price tag I was expecting a bit more durability and “ruggedness” from Garmin, instead I’ve owned the watch for 4 months and one of the buttons has already failed, now today the watch has froze and won’t let me do anything (see pics).
Honestly if I could get my money back, I would! I’ve used the watched for walking, hiking and daily activities so it’s not like it’s been abused with sea water and rock climbing, very dissatisfied, if I could give it 0 stars I would but I had to press 1.

Best watch I’ve ever owned!

I’m a runner and gym rat. I really enjoy how this watch tracks and analyzes all of my workouts. From heart rate to sleep patterns to my body battery. I enjoy all of the new information I am learning about myself. Works great with Strava!

DONT BUY- DOESNT WORK

I’ve purchased not one buy 2 Instinct Solar Surf 2 watches. They don’t work for surfing plain and simple. The GPS loses connection as soon as you paddle out and incorrectly maps the entire session. I’ve been on the phone with Garmin Support and there suggestion is to keep the watch out of the water! It’s made for surfing and they want me to keep my hand out of the water!? Shows how much the know about their product and demographic.
