Not as great as they ONCE were

Too bad that a short 2ft drop to thick carpet cracked the case and now it is falling apart. I had Otterbox for years on older phones and I like them until they got bulky and gradually more and more expensive. I started using Spigen cases and those were some great cases. When I found the Commuter case, I thought great, not as bulky and not as expensive. I take care of my phones, and the cases that I use on them. I always make sure to keep ahold of the phone other than the rare time it happens to get knocked off the desk. That desk is in a bedroom with medium pile carpet and a decent cushion under the carpet, so it is safe. But be forewarned, the military doesn't actual do the testing.....companies like Otterbox should be doing it on their own to military standard. Things tell me they just use that standard talk as a means of marketing their product. They 'might' do testing when they put out a new product, but otherwise what you see on the package and the website is probably just there as a means to sell their product.
After this, I'm done with Otterbox. It's up to you as a consumer to go with who YOU think is a good product, but I'll tell you that Otterbox isn't as great as they're made out to be. I've had Spigen cases for years, whether on my iPhone, my Apple Watch or even previous Samsung Galaxy phones I used to use. They were taken care of just like my current iPhone and anytime there was a drop, there was absolutely no damage to the case, let alone the phone. Here is a simple short drop and the case is already compromised. Do yourself a favor, go with Spigen or another case maker....you'll pay less but probably get much better protection
I know the case is there to protect the phone and if the case has a crack, then it's doing its job....I get it, but compared to the Spigen cases I've used to years that have NEVER cracked once, that tells me that Otterbox is a crap case
