Great protection BUT not the same. We had the older version of this case and it was fantastic but when the new cases arrived, we were totally disappointed. Why mess with a great product? Otter took away the little ‘flap’ to help open the cover and the ‘kick-stand’ to stand the phone on a tabletop. The magnet to close the cover is strong but without the ‘flap’ it’s difficult to open. Also the older version of the case had the ability to stand on a tabletop to view. With this version Otter removed the ability to ‘fold’ the cover to stand it on the tabletop.

I love my OtterBox Strada just like I have since the first one I bought for my iPhone X. However, this version the volume buttons have a hair trigger. For some reason my phone volume goes down. I have discovered that if they even gently hold it anywhere near the volume button the volume goes down. I have not had this problem with any other OtterBox case. I don’t have a workaround to suggest I’m just gonna have to figure it out and apply it to my case. Otherwise a great product.

Why remove the magnetic tab to open the folio?

I loved my previous case on my iPhone X. I am unsure why the design team decided to remove the magnetic tab that you use to help assist with opening the folio. Now that there is no tab it is much more difficult to open than their prior design. Why make the consumers life harder?

Endless screenshots and misfires with this design

I owned several the iPhone 11 Pro Max cases ad loved them. So much that I still have a replacement one unused in case it was discontinued! Unfortunately, the iPhone 13 Pro Max model has overly sensitive side buttons. Closing the case tightly, putting into any pocket, or simply holding it naturally will often trigger the screenshot or photo function. I now have to routinely delete 10-20 misfires or random screenshots every day. Though I am a big fan of the Otterbox Nomad cases, I will have to replace this case.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good but why the change

I’ve had this case for a couple of months. It’s a great case EXCEPT that the notch to open the case is missing. I used the Strada case on my iPhone XS Max for years. There was a flap to open the case which worked perfectly. Now it’s gone and it’s hard to open the flap on these new cases. Why do companies feel the need to do away with what works? I’ve already changed from my Strada for my iPhone 13 pro max. It just doesn’t work as good.

A disappointing iteration

After having used a otterbox strada case on my iphone 8 plus, when I upgraded to the 13 pro max I wanted another strada for it, as I loved the 8 plus case. However, this case is not as good, not nearly as good in fact.
Starting with what is good, it is a beautiful case. The leather is great, and the stitching is suburb. The amount of protection it provides is also quite good. Both the front and back of the case have a good amount of raised edging to protect both the screen and the cameras when they are lying on a surface. I have not dropped the phone (thankfully), but from my prior experience with otterbox products, I have no doubt that if I dropped it, say, from my desk or out of my pocket, the phone would not be harmed.
Unfortunately, that is where the positives end, and the negatives begin:
1. The tab to open it easily was removed. Whereas before I could flip my phone open with one hand, I struggle to do so with just one now and tend to need to use both of my hands to open the phone.
2. It no longer has any stand functions. One of the selling points of a folio case to me is that you can use them to prop your phone up for a good viewing experience. This case does not provide that function.
3. The limited card space. A lot of other folio cases provide more room to carry cards and cash, to the point that you would not need to carry a wallet. This folio doesn't provide that. I knew that purchasing it, as my 8plus case didn't either, but for those that are buying with wallet replacement in mind, keep this in mind.
4. This is more subjective, but in my opinion, the case is not as comfortable to hold in landscape mode as past strada cases were. This largely has to do with the fact that, where before they could serve as stands and so the back was flexible, with the back now being rigid, my fingers (especially my thumbs) struggle to find a comfortable position to hold the phone sideways.

This is my 3rd one. This year, the tiny tab was eliminated and I miss it. I still love the case but that little tab made it so easy to open with one hand. The magnetic closure is strong so even if I toss my phone in my purse, it stays closed until I retrieve it. I always get top dollar for my trade-ins because there is never a scratch on the screen. Highly recommend.

The newly and thoughtlessly redesigned fumble case

I owned and loved this version of case for my iPhone 11 Max. When I upgraded to the iPhone 13 max I was pleased that otterbox had already produced a iPhone 13 max case in this exact folio style and ordered it instantly.
They have changed it, gone is the small flap that allowed you to flip back the cover instead there is nothing. Smooth and featureless (except for their metal plate word mark) and completely impractical, this design modification makes it very difficult to open the case, to simply flip back the cover. There’s virtually no allowance for your finger to catch the edge of the magnetically sealed cover and flip it back to access your phone, it takes several actual conscious attempts/ efforts to do this, every time; it is not an automatic gesture. Extremely frustrating.
