My old Genesis was about 30 years old and even the spark starter was still working. But it was past time to make some changes. This new machine seems formidable. It took two of us old folks and both the book and the BILT app two half days to put it together, and we had only the three expected screws left over. Works very well. Lots of even heat. Now we need to master the electronics with my iPhone app. Looks really good, and I think I can expect another 30 years of happy grilling.
The grill is great but their are definitely is an issue with the "smart" screen. During the daylight hours, especially in the sun, it is extremely difficult to read the screen. Even though the grill temperature is large, you have to play the game of looking at it from the right, left, etc to see the temperature. Forget about being able to see the food temperature which is much smaller numbers or the propane gas tank tank level. With today's technology this is a disgrace. I wish they had the old fashioned round temperature thermostat on the grill cover so I don't have to go crazy looking at the screen. At night there is not problem.
Overall not what Weber used to be. The BAD : one of the grates are not level and rock back and forth on the grill. When you bought a stainless steel grill the entire thing was stainless. Only the part of the lid and doors are. The rest is VERY thin stamped steel. Also the overall heat output could be higher. I’d love 30k btu per burner. Also sell the lighted handle as an accessory. I’d buy it!
The GOOD: goes together fairly easily. Almost all the gas system is already built very nice! The wiring is also very easy. Heat output is low but VERY even across the entire grill. The casters are a tad small but roll nicely across most surfaces.
This grill is well built and functions well. Assembly was very straightforward, just took a bit of time. I have only used the grill for direct grilling of burgers and steaks which it does very well. So far I have two complaints. First, the digital display is very dim, making it difficult to read in bright daylight. Second, hanging the tank on the level gauge in side the cabinet is very awkward. It requires that you have very good arm and hand strength and lying on your back.
