"Smart" weber is actually exceptionally dumb. To use it, plug it in *constantly* or buy a battery pack which lasts - count them - 9 whole hours before needing recharged. (Because, I suspect, when you turn the BBQ off, it doesn't really go off). No big analog thermometer, so you *must* use the electronic one, which is usually dead. Don't but this. Get one of the old-fashioned and vastly superior Webers instead.
I love this grill, however if you’re cooking with your phone hooked up to the computer display and get out of range the electronics shut off but the gas doesn’t. This could create a severe safety situation.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Thank you! We are happy to learn that you love your new grill! We appreciate your feedback and your concern about safety. Safety is also our primary concern for all of our grillers.
We always recommend keeping your grill within sight, and we do not suggest leaving a running grill unattended.
The Weber Connect Smart technology is an additional tool to allow you to prepare and monitor your food, but it is no replacement for supervision. The Weber Connect hub should be turned off manually along with the grill when you are finished.
As a reminder, the gas should always be turned off at the tank or shut-off valve when a grill is not in use.
We want our grillers to have fun, be safe, and enjoy all of the new features our grills have to offer. Please look for an email outreach from our Support team soon.
The Genesis grill parts look to be quality workmanship, however the grill shipped with the wrong parts and I could not hook up the side burner, because the main grill assembly was for the unit without side burner. Thus I can't complete the assembly, so I am waiting for support from Weber to resolve it. Can only give two stars for now, waiting for Weber support. Still have unassembled parts in my garage. Had a prior Spirit grill, that was great.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Avoid the one. The other unit that has a traditional old fashion thermometer on the grill hood is the way to go. NOT this one that is electrical. It requires being plugged in either to a electrical outlet or a battery pack (Doesn't come with) to operate the digital thermometer. It is Weber quality over all other than this electrical necessity if you want to know the temperature. Would have been nice if it had both. I really wish I could exchange for the other model without this. Ruined the experience of excitement to learn I have this tethered necessity. If you are like most homes I don't have an electrical outlet close by. I'm using the battery packs, but that's ridiculous. I don't want to be bothered to unplug that after grilling. It may last 3-4 days and then you need to recharge. This is not a step forward in grilling. This is a step backwards. AVOID this one.
We had a Genesis Grill for many years before this one which has a sear burner and temperature and wi fi panel. This is a nice feature but only will accept two probes. I would have preferred six. I also would have liked if it would run off of household batteries instead of having to buy an a power pack. The accessories are almost expensive as buying a whole new cheap grill. I would have liked to see more stainless steel parts.

Disappointed that I have to plug it in

We spent alot of money and were pretty excited to get this grill. did not realize until after purchase we needed to plug it in to see the temperature. I grill for about 3-5 nights a week, at least six months of the year. I use the temperature feature all the time. We don't have a plug convenient to where the grill is. Poor design thinking people would want to plug their grills in
The gas grill works great, but the temperature gauge has been broken since it was delivered. No one has taken responsibility for this. I had to find my own repairman and he told me the part I need is on back order. As of now, my new grill has been broken for nearly a month with no end in sight. Very disappointing, as someone who has owned multiple Webers.

I tried to buy this grill 3 different times through Home Depot - It came delivered damaged each time; plastic grommets around grill handle attaching it to the grill cover continuously crack/broken; Weber per Home Depot would not send replacement parts - had to return entire grill each time
