The Perfect Strap!
on April 5, 2020
Posted by: Anonymous
I have been an amateur photographer from back in the 35mm film days. Now at 72 years old it is a little more difficult to take the long hikes than it used to be. I typically carry a full frame camera with a 70-200 attached and it gets a lot heavier than it used to. I have been looking for a strap that would provide the comfort I needed and at the same time make it easy to pull my camera up for a shot. I tried many and even tried making my own. BUt the Peak Design SLide is everything I have been searching for. The ability to pop the strap off my full frame and put it on my crop body in a matter of seconds is just icing on the cake. I have found my strap!

Loved it until "grippy side" ruined some shirts

I purchased two Slide camera straps and was quite happy with them until I realized that it was the "grippy side" that was melting and ruining shirts. Initially, I thought something else was ruining my shirts, but finally I narrowed it down to the rubber from the "grippy side." Now I am looking for replacement straps that don't have melting rubber, but will use the Peak Design attachments.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What to expect with the Peak Design Slide
on November 7, 2019

The Peak Design Slide is a surprisingly useful camera strap. The wide strap design is one of the best experiences I have had. It doesn't fatigue your shoulder or neck. I also really enjoy the ease of how smooth it is to adjust the strap length. I ride my bike a lot with my camera so it's nice to be able to secure it when I'm riding and loosen the strap when I see a shot. By far the best part of this package is all the accessories you get. It's nice to be able to play with how you personally like to secure the camera. It's great to have it all there so you don't need to buy additional things that might not work in the long run for your shooting style.

Seems to be great

I owned three of the old slides which I decided were better than my old Black Rapid. The only issue with the old slides is that they marked my clothing with black marks that cannot be removed. The marks are each about 10 " and the width of the old slide strap. I now have three new slides and so far (after three weeks of heavy use) no problems with black marks on my clothing. Peak Design was very good to work with after I sent photos of some of clothing that had been damaged. So far - great experience. 4 stars instead of 5 because of the experience with the old slide. Check your clothing if you have the old slide strap.

Slide right

I carry a Nikon D850 often times with a 24-70mm, enough weight I can actually get an arm workout. I purchased a Slide strap several months ago and love it. It carries and distributes the camera and lens weight while allowing easy strap adjustment for quick shots. The strap easily adjusts to allow the camera to rest either at my side or at my lower back. And just as easy I can bring the camera up, tighten the strap to give me the tension I need to hold the camera steady using Live View. I am the proud owner of a 20 liter camera bag (backpack)and think it is the absolute best purchase ever, so I knew the strap would meet my expectations, and sure enough.

My search is over. THE PERFECT Strap.

I bought this strap during the holidays so I used it during holiday travel to New Orleans and other locations. Hugs me perfectly. Keeps the DSLR (with an 18-300 lens) out of the way until needed, where I can just reach, grab, slide, and take the photo with ease. One of the best benefits for me... no more neck or back aches from lugging the camera on me for hours (or days)

Comfortable but not rugged for outdoor...
on October 3, 2024

After 3 years of use carrying cameras and big lenses from Antarctica shore to remote tropical Islands what I can say is :
1. the fabric connection between the sling and the anchor point is tearing apart and will likely soon break, hopefully my camera won't fall with it...
2. The metal spring-like part of the anchoring system is rusted, since the black paint felt due to friction, stainless steel would have been a better choice of material for this part.
Just be aware it's a very comfortable and smart sling system but definitely not rugged enough if you are a professional wildlife/outdoor filmmaker, as intensive use will quickly damage it. I'll soon have to replace it but I'll likely choose a military-grade sling system this time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Amazing strap!

I have barely used camera straps in the last 20 years because most of my shooting is done from a tripod. When I needed a strap I hated every one I had. They just didn't work. I decided to try out a bunch of PD gear and ordered the Slide and Slide Lite. I LOVE them!! Really this is the best strap design I have ever seen. I love the fact I can put the attachment points on what ever I want and then just move the strap from camera to bag quickly. I love the seatbelt material these are made out of and the length adjuster is perfection. Really my search for the perfect camera strap had ended and now I find I use a strap more than I ever have!
