Replacing 3 other straps
on May 22, 2022

My usual set up as I go woodland walking is a Nikon D500 with a Nikon 16-80 lens attached. I also carry a Vanguard Tripod, its just too much effort to take a camera bag with more gear.
I've been using for a few years the OP/Tech USA straps. They offer much more neck support and can be washed easily. However, I've been finding the weight on my neck after a few miles trekking just getting too much.
I saw another photographer wearing the Black Rapid strap, and was very interested. So after a bit of research I actually found a YouTube review comparing it with the Slide. The Slide seemed to have a lot more going for it, and for me especially, I liked the way it connected to the camera. Because I have 2 other cameras, both infrared conversions (D7500s), I thought if I bought a set of anchors with the strap I could replace all 3 straps. And that's what I did.
I've been out a few times now with the strap and with all 3 cameras (at different times), and I'm loving it. I don't have any aches or pains in my neck. There's no issues with shoulder pain, and I can easily slide it around into different positions if one gets a bit much. I also can get the camera on the tripod easily without removing the strap.
I know most of the publicity shots show the camera on the side of your body, but I found my favorite position is at my back, with my second being at the front.

Materials deteriorating leave it unusable

My strap has deteriorated leaving sticky black smears on me and my clothes that will not come out. It’s now unusable.
Such a shame because otherwise I loved it but a lot to pay for a strap that simply doesn’t last.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

At the beach sand stuck to the rubber side and since then if I use the strap with that side against my shirt black marks are left and don't come out in the wash.

Finally a Great Camera Strap
on February 24, 2019

I am 68 yrs.old and have been into photography for the last 40 of those years. During this time I have gone thru many various camera straps never finding one that was very user friendly. I thought I would make another attempt to find a good strap and after much research discovered the Peak Design Slide which I purcjjhased. I recently used it on a 2 week trip and was totally amazed at its quality and ease of use. It is the best addition to my camera gear in years. I am planning to buy the the Slide Lite to use with another of my cameras. If you are looking for a truly great stap save yourself the research time, etc. and buy this strap. You will not regret it.

Beautiful quality. Unfortunate metal handle.

Beautiful strap. 2 problems. The metal handle on the slider is big, metal and dangerous for your equipment when put it in a camera bag. Metal and camera screens do not go together well. So, be prepared to remove the strap and put it elsewhere when you put your camera in your bag. Or be prepared for scratches. Second problem is the rubber anti- slip material on the strap has worn and is falling off.
That being said, I still enjoy using it, and it is a beautiful product. But it would be much improved, in my opinion, if the handle on the slider was replaced with a less showy, but more functional, non-scratch-prone material. Form should follow function, not appearance.

I’ve used the Slide straps for all of my cameras for years and love them all. This is the first time, though, that I bought the strap to hold a 500mm F4 lens - an old Nikon AF-S ii D which weighs about a billion pounds (3.8kg you can do the actual math for pounds). The strap holds in place with minimal slippage and sits comfortably wearing in crossbody. It’s a great piece of kit that I highly recommend

3 things I love + 1 I hate (still the best strap)
on April 15, 2022

Three things that I love and one that I hate:
- Love the material used for the strap. It's wide, it's soft, it's strong.
- Love the clip system to attach and detach the strap from my camera. It's sooo convenient and easy to use since I often switch between handheld and tripod.
- Love the ease of adjusting the length. How I ever put up with the inability to adjust standard camera strap buckles, I don't know. I do, actually: I never adjusted the length. This is way better.
- I hate, absolutely despise, the thick hunk of foot-long material embedded in the midpoint of the strap. It's so uncomfortable, especially when hiking, that I'm glad the weather has been cool enough to wear a hoody or some other clothing so I can have something between my neck and the hunk of strap. Ugh. Did I tell you I hate this feature? Yup. I do.

Great strap, just need the silicon on both sides!

I've worked professionally for 20+ years and have a draw full of straps/carry systems and these are easily the best. Easy to clip on and off, easy to adjust the length, wide so it comfortable for all day use. But I do have one niggle, which isn't for everyone, but as a guy using them with two camera and different lens, I like to have them on my shoulders for ease of movement and putting one down when I'm getting a low angle shot but always find myself having to double check I've got the silicon side down. Please can we have a version with silicon on both sides!!! (and a version without for those that don't like it). Then these would be pretty perfect.
