Reliable, with caveats.

I purchased this strap quite a while ago and have really enjoyed it after way too long using what came with my camera! However, it does have its problems, as with all products. I love the rigidity of the strap, for example, is amazing. People aren't lying when they say its like a car seat belt, which makes it trustworthy, but not always convenient. It can be quite harsh on your bare neck and the padding is going to get destroyed quite quickly if you need it folded (you will) in a camera bag. I trust that the Slide will hold my equipment safely around my neck, but wouldn't want to use it on my shoulder. the grip that comes on the strap won't keep your camera there, and without even using it, will decay! I was lucky that Peak Design's lifetime warranty got me a replacement for piece of mind.
In summary, buy it if you need a strong strap for a big camera. I'm talking telephoto on DSLR big. Otherwise, consider the lite, which retains a lot of that strength with less likelihood of destroying your neck! I also cannot really recommend you buy it if a non-crossbody shoulder position is your main way of using your camera strap. The main strap material and links will last years, so it has that going for it.

Great product - Just does what it says on the tin

I have used this for several years and it has always performed excellently. It is easy to attach and swap out with the cuff strap. They are just so quick, easy and secure plus they are easily adjustable and look great. They are the only camera straps I need. I always look to see if Peak Design a camera product I need before I look else where…. Need I say more

One of the best upgrades for my camera kit

Went a bit overkill with this over the lite version, as I wanted better overall support for my shoulder/neck as this pertains to a wider strap. Original strap for my Nikon is good, but I quickly realized how annoying it was whenever I did landscape/tripod photography as it was always getting in the way of me pushing all kinds of buttons on my Nikon z8. Having the quick release function makes this so much easier and never looked back, it has now become e permanent companion to my camera. Quality seems top notch as expected from peakdesign, and materials look durable and will hopefully live up to my expectations, which is currently the case based on the past weeks this has been installed on my setup.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best investment for a camera strap

I started with the slide light. I enjoyed the strap but it want very comfortable after wearing it with heavy camera gear for a long period of time. I bought the wider strap (with padding!!!) at Thanksgiving. I am beyond thrilled with this strap. I can wear it for much longer. It is so much more comfortable! What I love the most about this system is that I can change the straps to mount on the bottom of the camera and if I need to use my tripod I take the anchor off and slip the clips into the top of the camera. This way I don’t have to bring two straps or not have a safety tether when I am using a tripod outside.
