Got this bad boy for a cross country road trip, worked fine during the at home trials but shortly into the trip it began displaying incorrect power levels and would die while the display showed it had roughly anywhere between 20-40% battery life. Besides the incorrect battery display this thing has been a champ, very durable and more than capable of keeping our phones and other small electronics fully charged during our trip. Would also like to add I did not reach out to Jackery about the issue with the incorrect display due to the fact we were living in a car, had no way to mail or replace it, and it was still capable of charging our stuff. Purchased in October and has seen hard use since February very happy with the purchase!

Perfect way to harness the power of the sun to power your technology! I purchased the Generator 290 kit in February 2022 and have since used it at home and a roadtrip to Joshua Tree to power my laptop, lights, and phones in the family, without having to plug into the wall AC as often. This gives us the flexibility to work from anywhere in the yard, garage, on the road, and places in the house without a plug nearby.
Solar Saga 60W panel is fantastic and nearly outperforms its own 60W rating. I will often use the panel stand-alone to charge my tablet and phones directly with the Solar Saga's 12W USB-A port and 15W USB-C port (but note that the port is NOT a PD port so may not support all USB-C devices). Also note, I keep devices, including the Explorer 290, cool in the shade while charging them, often with the solar panel itself.
When charging the Explorer 290, it will consistently average 40W+ of charging during most of the day (i.e. 9am-5pm during spring/summer). On a sunny day, that should be enough to fully charge the Explorer 290 or any other power station that you may own that are around the 200-300 Wh capacity, such as Explorer 300.
I wasn't able to upload my test video on this review, but here's a test I ran with the Solar Saga 60 + Explorer 290: 9am 41W solar input, Explorer 290 SOC 27% 10am 44W input, SOC 43% 11am 46W input, SOC 62% 12pm, 45W input, SOC 78% About 50% SOC gain in 3 hours. At that rate, 15% SOC (the lowest recommended) to 100% will take about 6 hours
Also, thank you Jackery for the sticker pack, they are awesome for stepping up my water bottle game!
The only suggestion I would give Jackery to improve the Explorer 290 is to include a USB-C port, such as on their 160 and 300 models. I was able to find a work-around by purchasing a quality 18W USB-C PD car charger for the Explorer's 12V DC outlet, to be able to enjoy USB-C charging without having to use the AC inverter.

I own the Jackery 290 and it’s invaluable. I use it to travel to charge our phones and during summer on regular shopping trips to run the fan when I leave the dogs in the van. I’ve also used it when our electricity goes out which it does yearly living as we do in the forrest. I’d like a larger one so I can charge a mini frige on trips and be able to keep more powerful things going at home during black outs. Jackery is the best!

Powerful battery in a tiny light package. I use this battery to power my astrophotography rig outside. It powered my mount, camera and tiny computer for many hours. I calculated it could have powered my setup all night.

Two years ago, Texas lost electric power statewide during a winter storm. I was lucky to have two small power banks that kept my phone charged during those 4 cold, dark days. I limited my phone use to texting family that I was okay, and checking a local news site 2x daily, just so I could preserve what little battery power was at my disposal. As soon as life was back to normal, I saved up and bought this Jackery Explorer 290. I’ve fully discharged and recharged it every several months since then, just in case. Two weeks ago, an ice storm hit and knocked out electricity to half the city. For the couple of days the roads were too icy to drive, my little Jackery recharged my phone, Kindle, and radio, so I didn’t have to limit my usage at all. In fact, when the roads were passable again, and family/friends offered to let me stay with them, I turned them down?I had plenty of power in my Jackery to get me through another several days. I still didn’t have electricity on Monday when I returned to work, so I took my Jackery with me to charge at the office, and it still had 40% left! This little power station got me through 6 days of no electricity, allowing me to talk and text and websurf on my phone, read on my kindle, and listen to my favorite radio station through it all. It wasn’t fun having no heat, throwing out all the spoiled food in my fridge, and using flashlights and lanterns for so long, but this Jackery Explorer 290 made it bearable while keeping me in contact with the rest of the world.

I bought the explorer 290 so I could bring a little portable power to my farm. Charging up tools and running small air pumps. Last night it ran my cpap for 8.5 hours from about a 94% charge with 15% power left when I woke up. Couldn't be happier. I'm ordering the 60w solar panel. If it keeps performing like it has I plan on getting the explorer 1500.

I’ve been pleased with my Jackery 290. After a year or so, the indicator light wasn’t working. Customer support was very responsive and I was surprised they replaced it with a brand new unit. Excellent product excellent customer service!
