I've gotten a few of these 17" style HP laptops, and the hinge mechanism breaks after about 2.5 years of regular use. Great value for the money but this latest version also needlessly changes the keyboard layout just enough so old keyboard covers are not usable.
I selected this laptop because of the size of the screen and that it had the hardware I needed. My vision isn't what it used to be, and I needed a 17" screen.
The USB-C port does not support additional monitors like my previous laptop did. I should have done better research before purchasing. Additionally, there are not enough USB ports overall. The monitor size is good, though you have to have it angled "just so"; otherwise the screen is hard to see. So far, the computer is decently fast. I will be curious to see how long it lasts.
I just needed a simple computer that I could stream movies with and watch my surveillance camera on. I was pleased to see that this device transferred the same web browser tabs that are on my desktop and now when I open a new web browser...the screen looks just like the desktops screen. This is a convenient option. But I had a hard time finding the install/uninstall option on this computer. After much searching...I found this option under Apps. This is the first laptop with SSD and it's very quiet. It opens much faster than my other laptop with a HDD and is not as heavy. So far I'm pleased with this computer. I'm still discovering other options inside of it. Looks like a lot of thought went into improving the usefullness of this computer.
My new HP Laptop was just installed last night. What a great computer. My old laptop had become so slow. This one is so quick and most reliable. So glad I purchased it.
