I was upset as it came with the bag for the brining in the past. This time it did not. The rub and pellets were fine..

Hello, and thanks for your feedback on the Turkey Brine and Rub Kit. When it comes time to brine the turkey, it is actually better to do it in a sturdy, sanitized brining vessel (breast side down), such as a cooler, bucket, etc. While it is possible to use some kind of brining bag, it would still be advisable to keep everything in a durable container to avoid leakage, so a bag may not even be needed.

People should be warned about smoking/cooking a turkey in a tall sided aluminum turkey pan. I used one just like I would do when cooking in a conventional oven and my turkey had received little, if any, smoke flavoring. The smoking did not reach the turkey. It appears the smoke was unable to reach the turkey. It merely exited my Traeger. Said another way, it could not get to the bird. Otherwise I was happy with the Brine and Rub Kit.

Hi, and thanks for reviewing the Turkey Rub and Brine Kit. When going by the instructions that come with the kit, you are not really supposed to use a pan for cooking the turkey. Once the bird has been in the brine solution for 24 hours, you'll blot it dry, coat the surface with butter and apply the rub. From there the turkey will go straight onto the grates, without any pan, where it will be both cooked and thoroughly smoked, until it is done. And even though some meats may require a pan, and even to be covered with butcher paper or aluminum foil, this would only be for part of the cook, with the remainder being right on the grates so that the smoke can permeate the surface and infuse its flavor.
