Very good, but not flawless

This motorcycle is a mindblower, no questions asked. It has the single most enjoyable build experience that I have ever experienced in a technic set, and I have built 16 of them at the time of this review. There are never any boring steps or tricky connections, and the motorcycle is built like a tank - it's virtually unbreakable. It also has a groundbreaking 3-speed gearbox with a that usually works very well. It also introduced a plethora of new pieces that are perfect for 1:5 scale motorcycles, and I hope we get more motorcycles in this scale in the near future.
However, this set is not without flaws. The gearbox usually works well, but not in third gear. whenever it is shifted into third gear, there is so much friction that it breaks the chain in a matter of seconds. And even if the motorcycle is in a well-working gear, the engine is completely covered up, so there is no real point in using the gearbox, anyway. There is also a problem where whenever the front of the motorcycle hits the ground, which happens a lot due to its minimal ground clearance. When this happens, it dislodges the "radiator" and partially removes a large, black panel on each side. However, my biggest gripe is not the price tag, but the number of stickers we get for that price tag. There are almost 80 of them, and they do not appear to be of quite the same high quality as they usually are. It gets really, really old plastering complex panel structures with them.
And, lastly, the 18+ age rating. I like it that lego is trying to make their sets look cool, but lego appears to be ditching functionality and playability to get those looks. This does not apply to this set in a huge way, but there is no information on any functions to be found anywhere on the depressing, all-black box. This is lego technic. Lego technic has been about functions since 1977. I support improved aesthetics, but can we have interesting and innovative functions as well?
Overall, this is a very good set, especially if you are going to use it as a display model. despite the stickers and hefty price tag, I would say that this set pretty much lives up to it's price.

Best Lego Technic Bike

I bought this as soon as I saw it in the Lego magazine (January 2022 edition). It was super fun to build and definitely one of my most challenging builds since the world map. This set is very clean looking when finished, I was very impressed by the designer(s) on this set, there are so many intricate details and it's very compact considering the 4 speed gear box. I did find one extremely minor error at the beginning of the instruction booklet that caught my attention, on page 66 the 2 3 stud long blue pins are pushed in already and on the next page it shows that you need to push them in again. I still absolutely love everything about this still. lots of stickers, which I actually enjoyed in this build and I usually hate stickers, but despite having 79 total! It was a blast!
I would recommend this to a friend!

It was decently challenging build. My complaint is on the exterior body part pieces. Usually Lego designs lock down pieces but on this build, every time I picked it up to put something on, something fell off. Especially around the front of the engine and the top of the bike. Disappointing.

My Best Technic Experience

I'm not normally a fan of Technic, and I was put off by the builds of the 911 and 488 race cars, but this build was truly excellent. Engaging and fun all the way through, challenging but not frustrating. I built across four 2-3 hour sessions and enjoyed every minute. Price is a little high but I think the experience is worth it. If a bad experience with other large Technic models is keeping you away from this one, I highly recommend giving it a shot. You won't be disappointed.

A stunning and beautiful 1/5 scale BMW bike

A most wonderful LEGO model of the amazing BMW M 1000 RR. I skipped building the black colored panel parts in steps 594-609 and 657-673, which actually made the bike look weird. This kind of over-sized airflow (?) side panel is not found like this on the original BMW M 1000 RR. By just having the white colored parts with the decals assembled and fixed to the body, my BMW M 1000 RR looks absolutely fantastic now. It took some time to figure out on how to do this but the optical reward was absolutely worth it. Other than that, the building experience was most challenging in a positive way. Following the detailed manual by each and every step really helps. LEGO was so kind to add some extra pieces in the plastic bags per each building section, nice! The design of my new display beauty is an eye catcher par excellence, very well done. The pictures and videos one finds in the Internet do not do justice compared with the real Lego set.

I have all the Technic cars and this was a welcome addition! I will say the price feels like it is $50 too high but it was a really fun build and I would buy again.

The overall looks are great but if you want a set where the pieces actually fit in the spots then don’t buy this one!!!!!! I usually build sets pretty quickly and I spent about 30 minutes just trying to get one page done because the pieces don’t fit at all. The pieces were horribly manufactured and my hands were ripped apart by the end of it from just trying to get pieces in. Overall I do not recommend.
